I think the Core2 Duo has 2 distinct advantages over the Core Duo.

1. It offers faster and better performance (20-30% quicker on some tasks)
2. Uses less power and runs cooler.

I am awaiting for the processor market to be flooded with Merom chips for me to upgrade my iMac Intel 1.83Ghz Core Duo. Pure plug and play with the current board.
