effective + visible = smart
effective + invisible = solo bastard

ineffective + visible = smart but asshol*s
ineffective + invisible = baik pegi mati

in addition, it is all about skills in communication, upward communication, barriers in communication, managing & handling people/behaviors, self confidence, behaviorist theory, consequences theory, rewards & reinforces theory, recognition, the effect theory, NLP, ......so on & so forth.

i'm talking about office politics with knowledge @ PROFESSIONAL APPROACH, not like a typical office politics mcm kedai kopi.
Example of kedai kopi talk, u can find some of it at here. rolleyes.gif

With the uncertainty looming ahead, i'm thinking of getting some trade certs....just in case.

Between Safety Officer and Crane operations, which one would you choose?

I am hoping in my next career work can bring me to more travels (dalam or luar negara) to client's places.

Mind to share what cert are you talking about? I am HSE practitioner.

Im not yet taking any for now...still in resilient mode and always ready working like its my last day at the company.

For the record I only have a diploma in electronics but having 10 years working as process tech/control room. Im not sure what good I can bring to other industry if shit does happened... I see the demand of crane operator and safety officer is there regardless of what industry, that's why im interested.

Folks,
With the current state of the industry, how're things like on the training and development side in your companies ?
Do you still get to go for your regular planned courses or are they being cut down ?
*
Still ongoing but more conducted in-house.
I just came back from a vendor training, that would be our last for this year cry.gif

At least you've done some training so far. One of my HR colleagues said I need to focus more on "on the job" learning  tongue.gif
*
yeah... in fact not really some, but a handful that includes all those safety trgs.
next year most of my mandatory safety trg expired so have to renew...but for vendor i dont think there will be much left.
new gas field development is there, scheduled to be on stream at 2018, but it's a very "low cost" project.

Yeah I've seen some courses getting cancelled at the last minute due to participants, very irritating if you've made plans and got approvals already.
Next year maybe only online courses  cry.gif
Mandatory training courses will have to be maintained la boss  smile.gif

About projects, yes it's only the lower cost projects or critical ones going ahead.
But I just keep wondering how Shell is steaming ahead on the Arctic drilling thing  hmm.gif
*
Hmm, the way i see it now mandatory trg have validity of 2 years, especially for the NIOSH/DOSH endorsed.
I just got my gas tester cert last year, next year expired again..hish..

Just got my DGR by air cert, passed and it's also valid for 2 years...hmm.

hi guys, is there any lady working at oil rig? i am girl and i am thinking to study petroleum engineering but i am worried after graduate i will be given a job that requires to work under sun all day. Do offshore engineers work under sun all day? Which degree is more suitable for oil and gas jobs? Chemical engineering or petroleum engineering? Which major do oil companies prefer? will studying petroleum engineering restrict career choices afterwards? can a petroleum engineer work in other industry other than oil and gas? btw, the other industry i mean is those industries that will let me utilize the knowledge i got from my degree not like banking or sales. any help is much appreciated. thank you tongue.gif
*
Lol up to you want to berjemur under the sun all day.
Ive been working offshore for 10 years & yet My skin still fair.

For your field of study its entirely up to you.
I got a generic electronics background but end up as process people. Your discipline might be different when you're working anyway. It depends on your interest/passion with the job/environment /challenge that comes with the job

Divergent Views on Optimum Oil, Gas Staff Size in Malaysia

PETRONAS Not Rightsizing, Staff Redeployed to RAPID

Layoffs should be your last resort, not your first resort because once you lay them off, they are not going to come back to you,” Sharmini Ann Jacob, KPMG’s director of People & Change, and management consulting ASEAN, told participants at the event.

As layoffs during an industry downturn could potentially include a skilled or talented staff, such action could be detrimental to the company’s longer term interests.

they wont be coming back at all due to the terms in the layoff
"employees who has been made redundant or taking the redundancy package voluntarily will not be allowed to work/apply for the company in the future"

well, rezeki ada di mana2...god speed.

Won't be surprised if O&G industry pay scale going to be the in the like of construction industry.

Considering the risks involved & the stress.... may as well I'll change careers if the payscale is so low.
