M’sian crude price falls by US$5.35 to US$61.54/bbl

The selling price (OSP) of a basket of Malaysian crude oil for July-loading has been set at US$61.54 a barrel, state-owned Petronas said today.

The July price for flagship Labuan fell US$5.35 a barrel from June. The price had reached its lowest in January since April 2009.

Petronas introduced a new benchmark starting January 2014, based on the spot differentials to dated Brent for three grades - Labuan, Miri and Kikeh.

As a result of the change, Tapis Blend was dropped as the key pricing reference to dated Brent due to low liquidity and falling output.

Kimanis, a new grade that started production in the fourth quarter of 2014, could be included in the price reference basket in late-2015 or 2016.

With the uncertainty looming ahead, i'm thinking of getting some trade certs....just in case.

Between Safety Officer and Crane operations, which one would you choose?

I am hoping in my next career work can bring me to more travels (dalam or luar negara) to client's places.
*
Mind to share what cert are you talking about? I am HSE practitioner.

Im not yet taking any for now...still in resilient mode and always ready working like its my last day at the company.

For the record I only have a diploma in electronics but having 10 years working as process tech/control room. Im not sure what good I can bring to other industry if shit does happened... I see the demand of crane operator and safety officer is there regardless of what industry, that's why im interested.
*
I see. Demand is there but qualifications and experiences is tight. Both job require competency. For onshore operation, crane operator must registered with DOSH. There are various types of crane. The same goes for safety. The lowest required niosh cert or for abroad they go for nebosh. Onshore safety required DOSH competency aka green book. The same for offshore in malaysia.

More laid offs soon shocking.gif
So this is how Petronas keep relevant in O&G business doh.gif
When business are good, any cat or dog also can get songlap operation with Petronas. When economy are good, it will tell who has the better connection shakehead.gif
Looks like Shell are out of the team sweat.gif
*
now this is misleading. vmad.gif vmad.gif
MLNG2 was handover to PCSB and only 39 pax from shell was offered to PCSB. all 39 was offered job with PCSB and two rejected and they prefer to retire. maybe received enuf VSS from SHELL. So dont talk cock like you know everything about petronas.

Shell never give VSS now, so you shall not talk cock also.
I know most people that get laid off are pretty sad and shock to receive this fact, but they can't accept the reality, so trying to look for excuse to make own happy be denying it shakehead.gif
*
you're not even in shell or pcsb and yet talk cock.

QUOTE(langstrasse @ Aug 23 2015, 09:29 PM)
Folks,
With the current state of the industry, how're things like on the training and development side in your companies ?
Do you still get to go for your regular planned courses or are they being cut down ?
*
Training is still ongoing as it was using the endorsed 2015 budget but definitely cost cutting is ongoing. Inhouse training, meal refreshment no longer luxury.

QUOTE(supersound @ Aug 23 2015, 09:36 PM)
Still got, for in house training with tea break last time with kuih, now with plain water only whistling.gif
External courses only for selected managers thumbup.gif
That's just oil price was at USD60, now already going to test USD30, see what will happen next whistling.gif
That's why DOSH fast fast open NIOSH to force O&G to send people for the useless trainings shakehead.gif
*
DOSH and niosh is two different entity and there's no mandatory training required to be done in Niosh for upstream but for downstream there is OGSP requirements. The rest of the training it could be due to legal requirements which DOSH enforced

QUOTE(ZZMsia @ Aug 23 2015, 08:48 PM)
Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) concluded Friday the handover of 50 percent equity owned by Sarawak Shell Berhad (Shell) to PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) in a closed ceremony held at PCSB Sarawak Operations Office in Miri, Malaysia. The ceremony saw the Head of Sarawak Asset, Sarawak Shell Berhad, Chok Chee Tsong officially handing over documents symbolizing Shell’s equity to PETRONAS Vice President, Production Malaysia, Upstream Malaysia, Johari Dasri at 12.01am Aug. 21. Commenting on the handover, PETRONAS Senior Vice President Upstream Malaysia, Mohd Anuar Taib said, “PETRONAS would like to thank Shell for all the work they have done at MLNG Dua and PETRONAS will continue to emulate and improve the previous operating philosophy for the MLNG Dua offshore facilities during this time that PETRONAS is entrusted to do so.” “PETRONAS is committed to ensure that there will be no interruption to the supply and demand of gas and achieve stability in the operations of MLNG Dua,” said Anuar. Previously, MLNG Dua was operated by Shell via a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) signed with PETRONAS in 1993. With this handover, PCSB and its subsidiary E&P Malaysian Ventures Sdn Bhd (EPMV) now own 90 percent and 10 percent equity respectively as PSC operators. The previous PSC expired Aug. 20. PETRONAS as the national oil and gas company views the handover of MLNG Dua to PCSB as a positive addition to the company’s ongoing efforts to position the state of Sarawak as the gas hub in the region. “PETRONAS will continue to support all long term initiatives for the betterment of the state and its community,” Anuar said. Adding on the future of employees and vendors transferred from the previous operator, Anuar stressed that PETRONAS stands firm on maintaining the current staff and vendors as well as their original positions. PETRONAS have approached and offered employment opportunities to all 39 staff released by Shell, of which all but two accepted the offer. “The 39 employees released by the previous operator are the only staff that PETRONAS can legally approach for employment offer, and 37 have accepted.
(As usual, individual S has been proven wrong)

di dalam kesusahan, pasti ada penamat dan pemula waktu senang.

well apparently a certain service company secured the contract from another certain client side. masa utk lap2 kulat dan habuk pada boot redwing pecos. sweat.gif

Well good for you then. Even though i heard a lot of retrenchment news, yet business is still ongoing. Lets hope for the best.

QUOTE(supersound @ Sep 4 2015, 05:57 PM)
Indeed you are right. I can have 2000000000 of non Malay contractors to work in Petronas for 1 week, then I can boast that Petronas is not a racial company.
I'm talking about permanent staffs. If you can prove that majority of board of directors and senior management do have > 30%, then I'm wrong, else your lie is still lie.
I don't bother on contract workers, permanent staffs matters.
Like MAB, it is only 9000 employees, that's 11000 of staffs being laid to rest at home.
Again, now I'm talking about Petronas, so no need to bring out other companies to hide your lies.
http://www.petronas.com.my/about-us/our-le...ourleaders.aspx
Yup, 3 out of 16, got 30% whistling.gif
*
well thats petronas and yes the ratio is low but they still having non malay right. If u see Shell, they are opposite to petronas. Non malay is majority there.
