Shell are good 10 years back, when they start to have locals to head the cooperation, all the good old days changed. Employing new staffs need Petronas's approval(something like 10 post, only 1 Chinese or Indian and 9 Malays must have the job first).
So if you have experience for O&G, head West, no need to waste time on Malaysia

Wondering what do you guys think about taking up a Contract offer versus current permanent staff position in the current climate?
I feel like my current position has 0 growth at all, but I understand permanent staff has a little more security than contract.

Also, I'm guessing this is kinda obvious but I gotta ask anyway, Contract staff don't usually get performance bonus do they? During contract renewal, do they give out salary increments/renegotiate salary package?

Am currently having an interview today with one of Upstream operator somewhere belakang KLCC. Hope to get back to Upstream again...

For us, concept select is done under our front end team, followed by conceptual design (preliminary PEFS issued) and detailed design (AFC documents issued), both of which are carried out by the projects team. I think we're talking about two different conceptual designs here - the one I'm referring to is where the field development concept has been finalised during front end (eg FPSO, wellhead platform etc), and we are required to produce prelim drawings and LLI TRPs.

Going by our ORP process,

1. Identify - Exploration/Front End
2. Assess - Front End - Multiple options for field development are assessed;
3. Select - Front End - Options are filtered down to a single, most viable one;
4. Define - Projects - Conceptual design starts, preliminary PEFS and LLI TRPs produces. Some preliminary assurance work carried out as well;
5. Execute - Projects - Granted FID/Petronas's MR4. Detailed design through to fabrication and commissioning;
6. Operate - Operations - Handover to ops to operate.

SapuraKencana gets nod for first upstream gas development project in M'sia

KUALA LUMPUR: SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd’s unit SapuraKencana Energy Inc (SKE) has secured field development plan (FDP) approval from Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for a gas field development project offshore Sarawak.

SapuraKencana said in a statement that with this approval, SKE would start the development phase for the SK310 B15 development project, with the first gas delivery targeted for the fourth quarter of 2017.

The B15 field, discovered in December 2010, is located within the SK310 production sharing contract (PSC) area, offshore East Malaysia.

The company said the development would comprise a central processing platform with a 35km gas evacuation pipeline to be tied into existing infrastructure.

The B15 field is expected to produce 100 MMscfd (million standard cu ft per day) of hydrocarbon gas for the Petronas’ liquefied natural gas complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.

“The FDP approval from Petronas marks SKE’s first development in the upstream gas project in Malaysia. We will continue to pursue future gas development projects from our other successful gas discoveries in Malaysia which is part of SKE’s portfolio today,” said SapuraKencana Petroleum president and group chief executive officer Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin.

SKE, via SapuraKencana Energy Sarawak Inc, is the operator of the SK310 PSC with a 30% participating interest. It partners with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (40%) and Diamond Energy Sarawak Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corp (30%).

SapuraKencana shares gained 10 sen to close at RM2.26 on Wednesday.

To be precise, it's at detailed design phase now.

Local fabricators are salivating over this job which will be awarded next year.

I wonder whether the Swakian fabricators have the edge since state election will be next year!

You meant the one in Msia? They quit the retail service already (Petron bought their retail business). Which downstream unit you were referring too?
