Guys, Im working in one of major operator company in malaysia. my job position is mechanical engineer, and i'm under project engineering team. But after 1 year here, suddenly this morning  my manager jz called me saying that I have been changed to another department, which is Field Development Plan (FDP). What do you guys think about this? Is it a good opportunity for me to develop my career and to climb the corporate ladder? Kinda sad that I need to leave my old department and join the new department. Any of you guys know what exactly FDP's job scope? bcoz i heard they dont get involved in technical anymore, but more towards high level work task. Any advise?

Another driller trainee program..

Minimum education requirement depends on the company which has this program. Some company have a good structured program and some don’t even have an idea where they are going to thus no control of the trainees.

I would say it would be a good move to set a higher standard even though traditionally those positions were earn from years of hardwork from bottom.

It is even better than so called companyman (night) or DE who only spend a few HONEYMOON trips on the rig and BANG, become in charge on the drilling operations!

ohhoo the maersk program. closed for now tho. biggrin.gif

E&P News

Reuters

Sept 17 (Reuters) - OPEC forecasts oil prices will grow by no more than $5 per barrel a year to reach $80 by 2020, with rival non-OPEC production growth slowing but not fast enough to fully clear the current oil glut, according to OPEC sources.

The sources said the figures came from an updated mid-term strategy report discussed this week by the representatives from the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna, which has yet to be fully endorsed by OPEC ministers.

The report forecasts that non-OPEC supply would amount to 58.2 million barrels per day by 2017, some 1 million barrels per day lower than in the previous forecast.

But even if markets begin to rebalance as low oil prices are hurting high-cost non-OPEC producers, prices are unlikely to return above $100 per barrel until 2030-2040, according to one of the sources.

The decade between 2030 and 2040 would be the first period when OPEC will see its global market share rising to 40 percent from the current 33 percent.

interesting. Is it a corrosion inhibitor or to counteract the effects of buoyancy? Budak baru belajar here.

i my self unsure whats the helium's purpose.

to detect leak perhaps. i used the fast route of google and the hard route of rummaging trough the SPE website didnt find much relating to helium while running casing and tubing. lots of other uses tho.

My company gave on average 3-5% increment to average staffs. The top technical staffs are getting around 10% increment.

I myself managed to get 12% increment this year. Syukur..

Apparently the chairman felt that the company need to reward the employees during bad turbulent times so the employees will remember the company during the good times. Is it a good move? Financially I don't think so but as a staff, hell yeah!! smile.gif
*
there's always a saying," companies dont need to look after their clients, just look after their staff and the staff in turn will take care of the clients". i think your chairman thinks the same way. happy workers = you giving the best and above imo.

p.s the above saying is from richard branson tongue.gif

P/s: Managed personal expenses wisely..this is where 'emergency fund' come into play...

that last bit of advice is the most important. when you have plenty try to spend less and save more. when you have less you can adjust accordingly. thats what i did after 6-8 months of no offshore and etc.
