Not as much as i expected it to be, bumi armada package is way better. this like your salary times 4. unless you work 5 years and above, 1.5 mth for each year of service.

Folks,
With the current state of the industry, how're things like on the training and development side in your companies ?
Do you still get to go for your regular planned courses or are they being cut down ?

I still don't understand, how can competitor decide who to hire in their company. It's not like a join venture or subsidiary. It's 2 separate and different entity.. rclxub.gif

yes, from shell insider. I dunno how much petronas will scrutinise though... but then as long that the number is viable i suppose.

and since i am not in shell but was once working for an engineering company in kl, i know that for RAPID project, the said engineering company dun have a big say in who they want to send to work for to work in RAPID.

Petronas hv to view their resume and approve.

Even when workload is low and many charging overheads, the said company still can't use their own overhead staff for that project just bcuz petronas duwan so they have to hire new ppl under petronas approval. So those overhead ppl just help up but not charging to RAPID. just charge overhead.
*
Rapid I understand, and I have no surprise as it's a cronies company

It doesn't hurt after a long day starring at multiple screens.

What was your role in O&G? Wish I can go investment bank too.
But now CIMB, R&B, City also have VSS right?

Basically O&G in Malaysia are hopeless for non Malays, but heck, even Malays(especially from Operations) also looking for jobs in Middle East now.
Just join any of recruitment campaign organised by head hunter firms(Think+, AP, JV), like previous Aramco mass hiring also majority from Petronas, follow by Shell hmm.gif

The first sentence really hit hard. How I hope it's not true.
So what should non bumi do?

Another shale fuel player from US bankrupt, Samson Resources Corp.

It's the biggest bankruptcy case within the industry in US.

Forbes forecast the next to be bankrupt will be SandRidge Energy、Goodrich Petroleum、Swift Energy、Energy XXI and Halcon Resources which market value have shrunk > 90% since 2014.

To the Admin of this thread,

Can you please amend the title of the thread to add a caution to the readers that one must take "supersound"'s postings like a pinch of salt.

It is common knowledge that 90% of his postings are BS and prejudiced against PETRONAS and bumis.
*
His post was very discouraging when I first read it, I thought I was a known fact in local O&G (regarding Petronas decides who to hire in Shell). Felt depressed and demotivated especially in hard time like this, until you guys clarify it.

But still, I think it's true to some extent, there are a lot of barriers in this industry, especially in our country.

6000 employees of shell currently for msia.

Part of them 1/3 (approx 2000) will be taken by petronas, as petronas and other operators (small) will take most of the assets from shell.

These 2000s might face retrenchment in a year to come as the operators are loaded wit their own ppl

The remaining 4000s shell employees, 1300 will be cut as announce by shell

Leaving 2700 shell survivors for the near future time being

Petronas... If they do cut, it is like nailing to the coffin

From what I hear, 1 mnc may close shop and shift operation to india...

And local ong co may get project due to the dwindling of oil supply already

Zeti already warn/advice us msians to learn how to do own business

We have to get ready. I know it is bad bleak news, but lets be prepared until oil recover...
*
Shell already cut 2000?
