QUOTE(TheReaderReads @ Sep 5 2015, 03:11 PM) yes, from shell insider. I dunno how much petronas will scrutinise though... but then as long that the number is viable i suppose. and since i am not in shell but was once working for an engineering company in kl, i know that for RAPID project, the said engineering company dun have a big say in who they want to send to work for to work in RAPID. Petronas hv to view their resume and approve. Even when workload is low and many charging overheads, the said company still can't use their own overhead staff for that project just bcuz petronas duwan so they have to hire new ppl under petronas approval. So those overhead ppl just help up but not charging to RAPID. just charge overhead. Reading this makes me feel glad I left the industry 6 years ago to join an investment bank as a trader on the dealing desk. I nearly turn down the offer when I heard about how hard I have to work. Oh man you won't believe it. The girls in the department that consult with clients are off the charts in looks. They are ambitious, aggressive and incredibly pretty.
It doesn't hurt after a long day starring at multiple screens.

But now CIMB, R&B, City also have VSS right?

QUOTE(InF.anime @ Sep 6 2015, 01:02 AM) What was your role in O&G? Wish I can go investment bank too. But now CIMB, R&B, City also have VSS right? SLB. I was in Singapore for a few years with an American ib (One of those known IB you probably heard about) before I join an American hedge fund but base in their Malaysian branch a few years ago. So I never work for a Malaysian ib. (Now my company plans to close their malaysia branch and merge them with their Singapore branch by the end of this year so I will have to be back there again..) Ib is very hard work and usually people only work until 40 years old but by that time they are multi millionaires and that is in USD not rm. Their commission after every deal with clients is between tens of thousands to tens of millions. I got bored working the dealling desk in Singapore like I got bored doing wireline in SLB my attention span is too short to do the same thing day in day out. Hedge fund (quant fund) seems to jive well with my character so far. Everyday is a different day here. Edit: I use to joke with my ex colleague saying that had I stayed on longer on the dealling desk I would have turn into a rogue trader out of boredom and would have brought down the whole bank like how barings bank was brought down by a trader turned rogue in the 90s. So it was really for a charitable cause that I left. http://www.theguardian.com/business/from-t...1995-20-archiveThis post has been edited by Binyamin: Sep 6 2015, 08:53 AM

QUOTE(TheReaderReads @ Sep 5 2015, 07:18 PM) National Oil Company (NOC) has a big say of what foreigners wanna do with their oil Actually without petronas, most locals won't have the chance to work in oil n gas. Decades ago, whenever there are oil project here in msia, it was done by the westerners. Until petronas came in and set a rule that if they wanna drill oil from msia, they need local content. Shell provide expertise in technology and know how, while petronas controls the project and learn from the big international oil companies. http://davidchin377.blogspot.my/good read. Seems like they are one of the first local drillers This post has been edited by DuFfz: Sep 6 2015, 09:01 AM

The financial world really does sound exciting. B4 i started doing engineering, I had always wanted to try finance but didnt know the route to it (not those working in consumer banking, but those analyst like from thestar biz section which I read b4 tertiary studies or those like u) so I just choose engineering. LOLX So it is good news eh that ur skin is save and that u are going back SG after the merger This post has been edited by TheReaderReads: Sep 6 2015, 12:03 PM

Infact I read from bottom-up in the blog! This david chin experience reminds me of my fren who was given scholarship in shell. My friend will do full time studying while working part time working with shell whenever class finishes. End of the day, the program went no where and it was another failed program. Luckily my friend is on the road to recovery... from this system and back on track. well I hope so

QUOTE(supersound @ Sep 5 2015, 07:48 PM) Google "Rozano Saad". https://gelagatanwar.wordpress.com/tag/datuk-wee-yiaw-hin/If not enough, how about some racial articles Petronas hebat selama ini dengan usaha, komitmen, kerja keras dan semangat nasionalisme pekerja Petronas sendiri. Mereka jatuh dan bangun dengan Petronas. Setia dengan syarikat itu walaupun mendapat tawaran berpuluh kali ganda daripada syarikat utama dunia yang lain.

Man, I kinda regret turning down KWAP's offer to become their investment analyst. The pay was quite good too. I just felt like it was a huge risk that time because they were heavily linked to the 1MDB scandal :/
