For those who play the er hu, Is it a hard instrument to learn/pickup?

is it as hard as a violin or easier? since u dont have to balance it with your chin? I know violin is one of the hardest instrument ( cos i learnt to play the violin before, and was the hardest out of all the instruments i learned)

I plan on learning to play the er hu . is it possible to learn it self-taught?

what are the basics of er hu? strings? do u play it just like the violin or cello ? is it harder or easier?

I played erhu for a few performances some time ago..

They're not really that hard once you covered the basics, there are only outer/inner stirngs, and you can get the hang of the "bow" pretty easy, unlike the violin. There are proper postures to play but it's really nowhere near as demanding as violin.

I think you will be able to self learn it if you're dedicated enough.
