It is possible for the garage sales sections to have threads approved by Mods/TE/Admins before being posted? (ie: like RWI)

The reasons is:

1. To prevent con case - the threads will get a scan thru before being approved to prevent possible con cases (if conmen uses different id(blacklisted) the ip can be checked)

2. To enable threads to be furnished with full details - i saw many threads where the sellers/buyers doesnt furnish full details (price/pictures/reasons/etc)

3. To enable the threads to be posted into correct subforums

Thats all i can think of now.

I know it will be taking a lot of times to do this with LYN lacking manpower in Garage Sales Section but it is just my susgetion smile.gif

1. That way doesn't means can prevent con case. Mod/admin might miss something as they are not Fulltime trader. They might not have experience on the item they selling.

2. I think if you ever see a post like that. Use the report button will do.

3. Report button also if you ever see them posting in the wrong section.

1. IPs are mostly dynamic. You connect this time, even you might get an IP that was used by a conman

2. I guess we dont wanna force ppl to provide pics and stuff, but other info should be important

3 Wrong subforums are generally a small problem, when u see any just PM or report on them smile.gif

Thanks for your suggestion, my comments:-

1. As you aware, there are a lot of new sales thread everyday in Garage Sales. It increases the burden of moderators unnecessarily. How many mods are willing to check so many threads voluntarily?

2. While the moderating team is trying their best to reduce con cases, the responsibility is always between the sellers and buyers, not the moderators. Requiring moderators to judge each and every thread is like transferring the responsibility from traders to moderators. Traders should practice more common sense and judgment, instead of being spoonfed too much. Trade Zone is meant to be a free trading area with minimal moderators intervention

3. While it may be able to detect some fraud cases, it also brings undesired inconvenience to majority of the traders who are safe, hence I don't see it as a feasible implementation.

no way man - you do have an idea on how many new threads are started eacha day for trading.

and have you seen the behaviour of LYN forummers? someone they don't like not yet blacklisted also they keep PMing and harass threads already.

the moderating team and TEs whatever WILL never be able to help reduce con-case, the most we could do is point out bad cases if there's a lead. other than that, nothing can be done if people decide to do trade without applying common sense.

look at TZDRC sub-forum, the cases either involve con-man or nutso buyer / seller. smile.gif

If a deal goes sour, the parties involved may blame the staff for allowing such a thread/post. Cuz in some ways a thread/post approved by the staff can be seen as having the support of the lowyat.net staff.

So if anything goes awry, lowyat.net staff become scapegoat?

I dun think they want that burden.

Thanks for your input. As samurai1337 said, the volume of new topics in Trade Zone is too large to manually approve. Real numbers: so far today, 119 topics have been opened.
