Not sure bout that. Perhaps there were some promotions going on, or the price your friend quoted was after tax refund.

I got most of my UB from Taiwan (due to work), the price has been steadily TWD5500-6000 (depending on colors and versions). All price quote are from Adidas store.

Just bagged a UB 4.0 Triple black at TWD6500 2 weeks back before returning to KL.
