Just a survey that. Will you support that upcoming or future windows phone come with x86 architecture instead of ARM? like android also got x86 architecture

here is the pros and cons that i can think off

Pros on ARM
1. no need to re-compile existing apps on market

Cons on ARM
1. cannot execute x86 exe like what we did on surface or windows 10 PC

if decided switch to x86 based , i believe most of the existing apps that available on the market required to recompile under different environment(unless that apps is compile to x86 and ARM ready).

if swap to x86 ..basically we will have 1 mini surface biggrin.gif

Feel free to add more.

Intel's x86 is still not that good in performance/watt unfortunately although it is getting better. If Intel can drive its power consumption low while keeping a similar performance with Qualcomm or Mediatek's high end offering then I believe Windows Phone on x86 would be more feasible.

And if MS writes a x86 version of Windows Phone 10, then developers would have another one more thing to test of. It doesn't affect app developers much, but it will affect game developer a lot(especially those who used c++ to develop their apps).

With Windows 10 kernel being the same between PC and mobile, I don't think we need to stick to one or another, if OEMs want to use x86, fine, Windows 10 will work on them, if they want to stick to ARM, fine, Windows 10 will still work. I don't think we need to pick a side here.
