First of all, hello to all of you.

Im beginner in this whole car audio system or ICE. I have Proton Persona 2010 with stock audio system. It come with 2 rear speaker and 1 HU Blaupunkt. I went thru the forum to look for a thread that might have the answer that I want. The more i read, more confuse i become. So, I created this thread and hoping to find some answers and advices from all the expert here. I do love and enjoy good quality audio that promotes clear/crystal sound. I dont have any specific budget to begin with but as a beginner, I probably dont want to spend much at first. Any midrange and below would be good.

So any experts and sifus out there could kindly help me to recommend any beginner audio setup(HU, Speaker and AMP) that focus on SQL. Any advices and recommended with specific model and brand will be appreciates.

Thank you in advance.

Spend time to visit sound competition event EMMA or whateber and there you will know good tuners, event winners and most important of all, do you really like the winner's system. There are system owners that never attend any event and never share their setup so yea unlucky to new comers will never know this kind .

When you find a good system do consider that the quality sound you heard is not really transferable to your car because of many factor ie your car is different from the winner's car in term of sound management of proofing, damping and dynamics; the system maturity in sense of burn in perfectly so you may think you've been scammed by the same products and installer because your system sounded different.

Too many good sounding brand but very few good installer.

Thanks for the info.

My only concern with those competition systems is budget. For pros probably they can differentiate system to system. Definitely not me. Im looking for entry level to medium ice system that heavy on vocal and clear audio. Im not a fan of 'boom boom boom' aka bass.

As you said, too many good sounding, so could you recommend any of those that meets my criteria?

Ah the budget. Most brand like DLS, Helix, Rockford Fosgate, German Maestro, Dominations Audio, Alpine, Kenwood do have entry level speakers but they may cost more than rm1k altogether because you'll need an amp too to drive the speakers. For vocal the cheapest way is to get a headunit with an EQ so you can bump around midrange frequency 400hz-2khz. The expensive way is to get a dedicated processor like Helix dsp. Clarity yea of course depends on the speakers so take anything from brand above it may give you the level you want but the installation too play a role in clarity.

I have a budget system installed in my car like what you can see in my blog linked in signature. Too me it still lacked a few character but that already cost me rm2k.

I was thinking to get below 2k systems. So i would like to fit in HU, speakers and amp. Not sure I can get decent one tho. But anyway, already saw your blog and the HU looks good. Not sure about the sound since it was recorded and not live.

Clarity vary from speaker to speaker and setup too. The closest example that I can gives are the goodness/clarity of in ear headphone klipsch Image S4 or VSonic GR07. Not sure if you are a fan of in ear headphone. Im satisfy if i can have ice setup that can produce at most close to that quality. Of course both are in different area, but just a example to let you know that the target that im looking for.

Im sure this Edifier guys will try their best to bring good sound because they were eclipsed by the PC brand speaker so yea they have a reputation to forge in ICE world. Those earphones you mentioned are not pushover you know especially the GR07. So to get that much integrity inside a car is gonna cost much because you see the car wasn't made sealed properly unlike your earphone. Yea other option is howiechoo @ EA Autoworks. He's been on the list there in EMMA. Do take your time to drive a bit further, take peoples' advice with a pinch of salt because in the end it's like audiophile peeps used to say "I'm sorry about your wallet".

Yo Edifier, build a demo car and smacked everyone in EMMA next time, there's your ticket to glory. I have no doubt you can pull it but I see that a lot of people doubt the brand's sound.

Yeah..its true..I know its gonna cost me alot when i want to join this. I just want to start slowly. Dont want to jump in quickly and the end i will regret it. I dont expect ice with low budget but with premiun sound. Above earphone just a example that im looking for.

To be frank im not very sure about edifier quality. I heard here and there about their reputation. Since I only bought Creative sound card and paired it with their surround speakers for years. never failed to impress me.

Anyone here have experience with yamaha brand? I have one of their mini speaker which beat quite alof of standard size speakers out there. Love it.

Emm. Have you go to either shop? I mean Edifier or EA autoworks? I just looked into persona interior picture on the net and it seems that there's no on dashboard speakers. Only 2 set of speakers front and rear and they looked like fullrange speaker.

Thing is for sq stuff they skipped the rear door installment normally and focused at front stage with sub at the back or for budget underseat one. A two way front speaker and an underseat sub is a good start. Now brand is up to your budget. Ive seen howie put somethng inside a myvi and by the look of it it's within your budget.

for entry level or mid or highend or super highend setup...

all the same, u got to do the correct fundamental, then its consider fully utilised ur setup.

simple setup like passive hu-amp-comp speakers-sub woofer will do

installation plays a major role, so get the correct person to do this.

tuning - set the correct hu output matching with ur amp n speakers placement are equally important
