My rig is a P4 3 Gig CPU, NVIDEA GeForce 6800 with 512K RAM and I am getting choppy sound when I play Battlefield 2142. My soundcard is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 24-Bit. When I set the audio setting to hardware mode, the music is okay but the voices is choppy. But when I switch the audio setting back to software mode, there is no problem at all with the the sound and the voices is smooth. I am using the latest sound drivers and even with EAX disabled the voices is still choppy.

I am forced to play in software mode because of this problem. Is this a bug in the game or is it a hardware or software driver problem with my sound card which Creative Labs didn't bother to fix? Does anyone here with the same sound card as me have this problem? icon_question.gif

you can enable EAX

but please disable the environment or special effects in your creative mixer.

Thanks. I see it's not the RAM problem but the sound card doesn't have support for hardware audio renderer. Stupid EA wants to force us to buy the latest SB X-FI sound card, eh?!!!! I will just have to play with software renderer then.

Edit:I'll keep updating this post if i find more useful resources smile.gif

Btw,Dont get me wrong here.Of course there is cons and pros when using X-Fi fatality such as doesnt support certain games like CSS or etc.Mostly this card is useful for games like quake 4 , Bf2 , Bf2142 and for future upcoming games.I'll try to post the cons and pros of the card itself

I hope that i'm helping icon_rolleyes.gif

it's worth to upgrade to X-fi...

the sound is crisp and you reduce taxing to the CPU

The normal nvidia onboard sound-lah, nothing special. Just install the driver from the nvidia website.

What is T-550?
