The Pajero is in rear wheel mode as default because it's not a full time AWD. In this mode, a whack from behind will cause the car to fishtail and if unable to control, will spin and crash into something. Looking at the Myvi damage, obviously a frontal collision.
The White Myvi in the pictures is the one who T-boned the Pajero, not the one who nudge it out of control in the first place. But agree on the Pajero RWD fishtail theory.

Woman arrested after three deaths in highway race
KUALA LUMPUR: A woman has been arrested and police are investigating reports that six Perodua Myvi cars racing on the Duke highway here last night were involved in a crash that killed a couple and their seven-month-old daughter.
Eyewitnesses said Fairuz Nizam Husain, 35, died on the spot while his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 25, and their daughter, Nur Firuza Annisa, died on the way to the hospital after the crash at 1.05am.
A Myvi car in the fast lane hit Fairuz’s Pajero in the middle lane, causing it to veer left and into another Myvi in the slow lane, police said according to Bernama.
Fairuz lost control, causing the Pajero to spin, police said, and all three were thrown on the road.

A woman driving one of the Myvi’s, Siti Noor Aini Mohd Said, 35, sustained light injuries, while the other Myvi driver, Mohammad Fizal Reza Jamaludidin, 31, was unhurt.
Rakyat Post reported today that a woman had been arrested and another driver sought. The woman was taken into custody when she sought treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
The three vehicles involved have been seized by police and investigations begun on a reckless driving charge.
Fairuz and family were returning home after attending a wedding reception in Putrajaya, the report said.
Eyewitnesses said several cars were speeding along Duke when a Myvi collided with the Pajero, which swerved left and was hit by a second Myvi, causing it to roll over several times.
The bodies of Fairuz, his wife and child were claimed by relatives for burial today. The couple have two other daughters, Nur Firuza Amira, 7, and Nur Firuza Akila, 3.

Just found out the victims were cousin to my ex classmate. They are of a pretty influential family. The father (of my ex-classmate, uncle to the victim) is the ex-navy expert who was the main consultant during the disappearance of MH370.

from witness account the pajero was hit twice...1st myvi from the fast lane resulting the pajero spinning onto another myvi which TBONE the pajero...u look at the picture how the middle of the chassis of the pajero bent(very strong as the myvi tbone it at around 130-150.plus myvi break is like cheebye onli drumbreak at rear)
thus the high impact from the SIDE..cars are designed for the toughest on the front crumple zone. u wear seatbelt with the pajero 7 airbags also GG liao///the strong side impact caused the pajero driver to instantly die..although the pajero apillar is still intact...the 1st impact plus flung out of the car caused the internal bleeding for the wife and babby...thats why they died otw to hospital not instantly as the full force tak kena directy to them.
if the pajero got rollcage inside maybe all can survived..
