Hi! I'm a newbie wanting to learn piano. Not knowing much about piano. I am planning on getting a digital piano at around RM2500... I am looking for something that resembles the touch like actual piano keys and reasonable sound... Was checking on the KORG SP-170DX and KORG LP-180 and also KORG LP-380 which is slightly more expensive. Can anybody recommend me on which digital piano is good for beginner? Or are there any other brands and models around that budget? Also, any good store to purchase digital pianos in KL area? icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

u can check out casio privia or Casio CDP models. Alternatively, Yamaha P45 or P115.

Go for Casio PRIVIA PX-130. Yamaha sounds more like simple tome with no timbre. This is just an opinion

Hi! Thank you I much for the suggestion! Have any of u played the KORG digital piano before? Any comments on them?

Since I'm a newbie, I have no idea what to be expected in a digital piano. What are the things I should be testing for? I planned to learn piano by myself.

I actually went to see the KORG but the salesman did not tell me much but keep bugging me the on the price and if I don't get it now i'm gonna lose out blahblahblah... When I asked him about other brands as compared to the this he can't tell the difference... He can only tell me this is with cover that is without, this one got free headphone blahblahblah, so I'm a little reluctant to buy it from him.

Any shop recommendations with reasonable price and friendly salesperson to consult?

Thanks a lot!!

I've tried the korg before but in the end i went for yamaha ydp-142 because of its more polyphony and it comes with a USB port. Also my personal preference is that the ydp comes in a cabinet. i also prefer the pedals in the yamaha compare to korg SP170s. Of course the price of the YDP-142 is more expensive than the Korg SP170.

It's best you go and try them out and see which suits you more based on the recommendation from other forummers here.
