I am a new composer in the scene and I would like to get to know the market better in order to not drag the market price down. If anyone would be so kind to tell me whats the average price for some original music :

It really depends on your portfolio, and name-brand recognition. I've seen people charge anywhere from RM500-600 for a song to over RM10k with royalties included. On your end, it also depends on the complexity of the material. How much do you value your time at? On a personal note, I've written and produced music for a couple of up-and-coming bands at a rate of RM500 flat for the basic structure, without including the recording and session costs. At the same time, I've also written jingles for brands and sold them at upwards of RM2k. So yeah, it really depends. I'm a freelancer though, perhaps somebody who does this on a full-time basis could help you a little more. |
