Item(s): Proton Persona Wet Carpet / Water Leak Repair



I know a lot of Proton Persona owners have this wet carpet/water leak problem. I myself experienced it twice
If you find that there is some water in the "longkang" of the rubber (pointed by arrow above) after rainy day, then there is a high possibility that water may get into your cabin.

The problem is actually due to poor seal of the plastic water shield behind the door trim. Some possible causes of poor seal:
1. Improper seal after power window repair (My driver side door as shown, messy black seal compared to the proper seal)

2. Removal of the plastic water seal after soundproofing of the door
3. Upgrade / Install speakers
4. Etc

I am here to provide you the solution. Alternatively, you may DIY to resolve it. But if you are not confident to do so or don't want to get dirty, just contact me I have opened the door trim for a lot of time to troubleshoot & do the soundproofing

1. Replace door water shield plastics (Original from Proton)

2. Reseal door water shield with new Butyl tape

3. Replace damage door clip caused by me during dismantlement, if any (Using Original Clip from Proton)

Why do I have to replace the plastic water shield?
-Although you can use back the plastic water shield, it is highly recommended to replace it during repair as it may be contaminated with dirt & oil, and it may not stick well to the Butyl tape, causing recurring problem

If you want to do soundproof for your Proton Persona door, I can do it for you also

RM450 for 4 doors or RM250 for 2 doors (including 1 layer of Edifier vibration damping material on inner part of the door skin + 1 layer of 3M Thinsulate on the door trim)

Effect: More solid door closing sound, slightly reduced external noise, "softer" motorcycle & lorry pass by noise (My advice is not to soundproof ONLY the doors too heavily, or else you will have more obvious tyre & engine noise & super heavy door )

fixing the leaking for 4 doors is rm200? Persona and Gen2 same?

Yes bro, 4 doors for RM200.

Not sure whether the water leak problem for Gen2 is same with Persona or not .
Maybe the plastic shield is different only. Price still the same.
