Hello guys, im planning on buying the mi box s and i have a few questions to consider buying it.

1) does it have a built in local tv station streaming service or do i need to download separate app to get that?

2) If it have built in is it any good or do I still need a separate app? Also what app do you recommend to stream tv? Does the tonton app works on this box(I don't have astro, so i don't need astrogo)? There is also this one app i found on play store called malaysia online tv by tmedia Ltd. Does that app work?

3) how much internet speed do i need to stream 720p and 1080p content?

4) general pros and cons of this device

5) do you recommend it? Or do you have other recommendations with roughly the same price tag as this device

6) does it need to be rooted? What do you gain from rooting this device?

7) i heard it have expandable storage through usb, can you install app inside the usb or ur stuck with 8gb storage?

8) what are the must have app for this device?

Do i absolutely need 100mbps? I don't think my area have unifi. Are streamyx bad for tv box? I can always get something from maxis or digi broadband but I really want to use streamyx since its cheaper. Also like i said no unifi so i don't think i can use unifi tv

*Update

Might be able to get unifi lite at least, so that solves the internet problem.

Now i want to know what are the difference between the global and Malaysia version, or there is no Malaysia version

In shoppe i found 2 xioami shop one for Malaysia another is global, so i assume the one sold by the Malaysia xiaomi shop is Malaysia version and it is quite expensive compared to the global version, just wondering whether it works differently.

One last question, I found this mi box s with pre-installed app. Is this any good or should i just buy the official one. I have njoi prepaid but it seemed like njoi now app doesn't work anymore. There are ways to watch the basic channel but my family really want to watch a few astro channel and subscribing to astro just to watch 2-3channel really doesn't make sense to me.

From my experience, this app known as CloudTV and you may download yourself from http://www.cloudtv-agents.com/downloads.php

You may enjoy full package for first day and log in continuously for five days to enjoy full package for another day.

that cloudtv app been around for donkey years.

the free channels work sometimes, not reliable.

there are other apps that are similar... but know this - there is nothing good and free forever, dun count on it.

if u want astro channels, u shud get id/pw from someone for astrogo but mibox... too bad... doesn't work well with this app anymore.

blame it on astro - they try very hard to stop some devices... there are others that work, though.

Does it affect anyone if I use their id/pw? What about the channel that i can watch on astrogo? Does it depends on their subscription?
