Any ideas?

Don't you find the stick lagging? And do you face the Unifi Apps double voice / 2 apps running concurrently?

My mi stick performs very smoothly after the updates last month. No issues at all. Yes, the unifi app had the double sound issue and that’s to do with he app, not the device. In any case i don’t use the unifi app anymore.

Thanks. Yeah if not for the Unify App, it's quite ok. Think its good for travels. Easy to bring around and just plug it in.

Xiaomi’s new Mi Box 4S Pro supports 8K video playback

QUOTE
Xiaomi has launched the first 8K-capable Mi Box in China.

The streaming box also offers 16GB of storage compared to 8GB in the 4K variant.

Xiaomi says they don’t have global plans to share right now.
Over the past few years, Xiaomi has released a great lineup of set-top boxes, from the Mi Box 4S to the Mi TV Stick. Now, the company is releasing another streaming device, and it features support for 8K video playback.

Named the Mi Box 4S Pro, Xiaomi’s newest set-top box is one of the only 8K-capable set-top boxes available — and at such an affordable price, is very hard to beat. It features HDMI 2.1, 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, and supports Bluetooth voice controls. It also sports Xiaomi’s MIUI, which should be familiar to anyone who has used one of the company’s streaming devices in the past.

Xiaomi’s Mi Box 4S Pro is a notable upgrade from the Mi Box 4S, which featured 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and support for 4K 60fps video playback. That device also supported voice controls, Dolby Audio and DTS Sound, making it one of the most feature-packed streaming devices for its price. Adding support for 8K video playback is an obvious play for the future.

Unfortunately, not much else is known about the Mi Box 4S Pro, including what processor it runs. But that likely won’t matter to people when they see it supports 8K video playback.

The Mi Box 4S Pro will retail for 399 yuan (about $60) when it launches in China. Preorders for the device will be available beginning November 5. As of now, it’s unclear if Xiaomi’s latest set-top box will launch in any markets outside of China, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled if it does.

For playback, you don't need much RAM, especially of the box uses decent chip that can efficiently decode AVC/HEVC/AV1. Even the Nvidia shield (bolster pillow model) ships with 2GB of RAM. Just don't expect it to do anything more than a media player box.

I understand, but 8k will be much more demanding compared to full hd and 4K and android tv boxes have useless background app management. That’s where RAM comes into play. Not for playing media for app management and overall fluidity of the ui.

For free playlist, tvirl is a better app as it automatically integrates into the live channels feature.

Not near my tv now. But it’s a free app to try. You can download it and try. Very easy to use. Just key in the playlist. And then press the live channels button on your remote.

I would highly recommend freeview with tvirl too, it is super lightweight and responsive on native "Live Channel" androidtv app. For tvirl free version, if the source/epg is down you need to manually reload the playlist then it should be up again, the premium version does have the auto-reload feature.

Epg is a donation only feature but trust me it is worth it, cuz the developer is very active maintaining the epg to be up-to-date.
