Guys, it is possible to flash 19-aa with international 6.0 rom. in fact, you can even go for the 7.0 beta, but once that is done, you cannot downgrade back.

on 6.0 everything works fine, with google play and Youtube. BUT casting function only works from desktop. i've not figured how to cast from youtube phone app yet (lazy to try further; since this is just a good to have feature).
i have not tried Netflix because i do not have any subscription plan, but i read that one can side-load the apk version to run it, which can be found on the net to bypass any restrictions. Not sure whether there are any limitations to HD or 4K content tho. Maybe someone can verify.

Am using Astro OTG and Kodi happily on the since and everything works fine. although Astro Go initially had an issue where the main menu is 90 rotated, while kodi due to the recent tvadons shut down, is a bit difficult to get the correct addons which works, but currently i have icdrama and specto?? (not sure) working.

the remote for the china model is the non-bluetooth model, so to get voice search to work, you can either use the official Android TV remote app which uses your phone as the remote (with voice) function, or to get the bluetooth version separately for just rmb99, i think.
as for the original remote, which comes with the set, it is the new version with the touch feature, but since i have an older mibox 1s, that older remote works with the new set as well, just to share.

so, the price does looks attractive, but i strongly believe is is a 19-aa version flashed with the international rom.

I'll check out the youtube version mentioned to see if casting works, but again that feature is just good to have for me, in the end u can easily search youtube videos u need thru the loaded youtube tv app.

One questions with Kodi on mibox.
previously on mibox 1s and kodi16, when i select a drama let it load or buffer for some time, i can watch it when i am free later since everything's loaded.

But with mibox 3S and kodi17, google's daydream screen saver will somehow interfere after some time, causing the loaded show to just stop and back to kodi's menu.

Anyone facing the same problem and any solution to this?
I've tried to turn off daydream, but no such option to do so. At most, i can only set it to a longer period of 1 hour before it starts.

i've tried to disable Daydream and Background app, but after a reboot, it will come back on, since i am not rooted i guess.

guys anyway to turn off daydream / screen saver.
it is interfering with Kodi 17. Loaded show will be stopped and needs to be re-loaded again.

in that case, would try out SPMC later. I read on Kodi forums that Kodi 17 seems to have issue with the screen saver / daydream while other version would not. Anyone can confirm this?

i have a china set with global rom and the latest astro go works fine. just that the controls would be challenging without a mouse.

no, i'm using the 3S (china set) but with global rom.

astro go app copy from phone / tablet which has a installed copy from google play.

u'll need a device to "drag" the menus across, so a mouse would work. why not just plug in a normal USB mouse to test first.
i'm using a logitech keyboard with touch pad combo.

that seems to be the case. i faced the same problem and switching to another keyboard solves that.

i can confirm that this method works. I've converted my unit successfully to the global rom, BUT note that the limitations listed are also true.
the converted unit has been my daily driver and working fine enough for me for my kodi fix. if you are okay with accepting those limitation, then feel free to try out.
