Ok, you guys know who I am, I know my stuff but I'm not so good at being sweet haha.

So basically I wear a t-shirt to the gym, I'm lean, 5.8inch bony wrist, 10/10 time it looks like it's my first day in the gym.

The gym I work out at is like the most sesat place ever. Basically you will see some super fat guys (85kg~95kg ish) who think they are damn "buff" but their max bench is 75kg sad.gif ... Then there's these guys who max bench like 110 Kg, at(or pass) genetic limit, been training for few years, but they ARE ALL on steroids (they talk openly bout it's use) sad.gif. Alot of people also wear lifting belts for 60~70kg squats in the smith machine.

So I often get approached and given dumb fuck advice. The gym owner (steroid user, 85kg, 13%~ bf) ask me to take mass gainers to have some "isi" before doing weights. I told him I'm on a surplus, and he's like if you eat food 80% will be fat gains, while if u bulk with mass gainers 80% will be muscle gains doh.gif. Everyone also thinks I'm mental for doing a full body program since "bro splits" are the way to go. But all this is fine, I just say ok smile and like do the "i will consider it" face and say "thank you bro for the advise" whistling.gif .

The problem, sometimes there's these guys who will sibuk "correct" my form. Like for example, I use a thumb around grip while benching, and this guy actually interrupted me 2 times by coming and touching my hand to show me to use a suicide grip, it screwed my rest time and the set. Sometimes I'm bicep curling/incline pressing and a guy will go help me complete my last rep since I struggle abit, and this screws my progress tracking again shakehead.gif. There was also once this old uncle (he's abit muscular 20% bodyfat, so he thinks he's the shit) who came and start putting some lifting belt around my waist while I was doing deadlifts (with 60kg only) saying I MUST ALWAYS wear it for safety.

I only can think of 3 solutions so far:
1. Lift with shirt off, no one will advise/interrupt me then cause it's clearly visible I'm trained and probably know my shit - But this is quite show off and sweat dirties the bench.
2. Wear a shirt with big bold red text, "I don't take Advise" - But this is very arrogant.
3. Tell them right in the eye "Please don't disturb me" - Firm but still quite aggressive.

I'm not good at this lar guys, so how do you like politely but firmly turn down people, and in a way they won't disturb you ever again?

110kg bench already genetic limit meh
I aiming for at least 105 at the end of current bulk leh

Actually i have the same problem like people correcting my squat form
I have a long femur and my squat looked different and they judged
The only thing you can do is just smile to them and agrees with what they say and continue doing it your way

110kg bench is nothing big actually. Just that these guys don't know basic shit like small surplus, periodization, progressive overload all that. They train full bro style with bro splits, dropsets, 30 sets per bodypart, going for the PUMP! bro. You can hear the words "PUMP/KETAT/PEDAS" non stop.

Genetic limit I mean their body stats, ~80kg 12%~ bodyfat is the average genetic limit. Alot of naturals with 6 abs at their limit are always 75kg~.

The hoodie and earphone tactic sounds good (proposed by Lowyat82). Sounds like they're really nice people trying to help (with wrong advice of course lol). Peeps in my gym rarely does that .

Hooded shirt cannot lar. It will be too hot and I'll die of heat stroke lol. Ghetto gym no aircon or ceiling fan. Headphone idea is good. I only face this prob at night when it's full, I normally go afternoon when it opens, so I workout alone having the whole gym for myself. Next time if I go at night I'll bring some earphones.

Ya they are nice well meaning people. That's why I wanna be as polite as possible. When it comes to advising, personally I feel we should never give unasked advise.
The only time I say something is if the guy is doing something really dangerous that might end in a big accident, like squatting super close to the rack until the barbell might hit the rack or bench with super uneven grip until the barbell is so crooked the plates can slide off one side and hit other people, these are normally like 14~15 year old first timer kids.

The earphones advise works. I was on the opposite end of it - my gym 'partner' did it to me.

There is this fatty in gym who is on the same day and time split as me (hence partner not that we spot each other) He is on whole body workout mainly on arms so I would suggest some compound movement or ask him to work on his delts or legs or a two way spilt. Normally he would just smile politely but continue with his routine while I try to coax him to increase intensity, weight or reps.

One day he came into the gym w earphones and every time I speak to him he pretend not to hear me. So no more busy body and he work out happily ever after.

bro, i honestly think your ego is abit too high for the gym. Listen to other people with years of experience.
For example, taking a mass gainer is good looking at your current weight. You save money, get loads of calories and protein and you dont have to eat too many times a day.
Secondly, there are many great ways to grip a bar. Listen, but you dont have to follow. Try it a few times to see the difference. One workout using a diferrent grip won't screw up your gains for life.
Body building is a life long hobby. Don't be afraid to try out new things, make friends and follow advices. If those advices don't work, then don't use them.
If they do, then its a win win situation for you.

PS. please don't be that guy that lifts with his shirt off

I get that you're saying to try things out but I wouldn't even ask someone to give suicide grip a go, let alone use it regularly. The risks far outweigh any potential benefits.

Not sure why almost everyone use suicide grip for bench press in my gym. Any the position of their palm bend almost 90 degree letting the weight on the wrist.

Maybe because im training in ghetto gym where everyone loves bench press but skip leg day and deadlift.

The best advice i get was, Bro why are you doing these compound exercise. Your bf is not below 12% yet.

If someone this teaching you wrong thing in your point of view. YOU have the right to correct them instead of they teaching you not getting angry because they tried teaching you. Well everyone is different so they exercise method will be too. SO just relax and go lift till muscles get sore!!!.

PS> getting big on roids is not actually that easy. it takes discipline and patience as well. Dont judge ppl too quickly sometimes they just want to help. But yes please wear a belt when your doing squads or deadlift because you will find out your self after 20 years from now. Your still young thats why your overreacting. Going to Underground gym(aka shoplot gyms is always like that) .

You got your point but what works for juiced lifter normally doesn't work on natural lifter. That's why we rarely get "bro" advice from them. But there is still minority juiced lifter with great knowledge and spreading good advice.

So, do you mean wearing a belt during squat and deadlift will save our back especially when we getting older? Or I got your meaning wrong? If not, you might have to redo some reading on how belt helps during squat and deadlift. =)

Just my 2 cents.

It's none of my business to correct anyone, No debate/argue/advise in the gym. I think it's rude to simply correct someone unasked too.
If someone ask/pay me for advice/suggestion/guidance, only then I intervene.

Yea there are some who know their shit. Especially the ones who train till their genetic max and only then resort to steroids to reach beyond that. But rare... Darky often mentions about his mentor Terry Gallyot.
