Good for those who didnt utilise calls much.

Actually tempted to MNP but I also get 3GB with Smart Plan 50 plus 100 minutes and 100 SMS. More or less the same now except for the green monster who kept sucking your money.

Im more interested in the WiFi. What sort of WiFi and where are the locations for these WiFi hotspot?

tempting for this blue plan. i had using surfmore 50 2 years then 2months ago i switch to digi 50 due bundled with calls n sms. but the internet service really bad compared with maxis before. Digi replied me that LTE is not supported for Iphone5 i was like WTH??? however, will head to bluecube for this next week smile.gif

DiGi only support 2600MHz band for LTE...

Actually DiGi is quite bad at some area and pretty good at other area. Quite selective. Since I live in Kepong, I found that most of the time, its satisfying with a couple of dark spot where its really slow. Most of the time is good enough.

I also wanted to try Celcom for a change. Previously I bought a Celcom simpack (forced to buy in order to buy Galaxy Note), and in area surrounding my house, it was only 2G. I was like WTF... but now given the price, really really tempting.

Sign up new number with First 38. Mixed result. Tested in Jinjang Utara. Some area digi faster and some celcom faster.

Actually since I'm using both DiGi and Celcom, I can say that there's little to choose between them. Of course I'm only using 3G with my Mi3. I will update again in few days time after I get S6 and hop on 4G network.

I find that Celcom although max at 5-6 Mbps, it does load pretty fast due to lower ping I guess. DiGi on the other hand, max out at 15 Mbps in certain area only. Most of the time, somewhere between 5-7 Mbps. It does load webpages slightly slower, but if you were downloading big files like updating apps, definitely faster with DiGi. One area where Celcom shines is indoor reception. Seem much better and can deliver faster speed than DiGi.

Exactly, just 3GB for you to surf, you do need LTE or stability of internet connection?

LTE is activated for free now until further notice. The customer service said RM10 charges are waived until further notice.

There was a time when all the boys and girls wanna be seen with a 012 number to be hip and cool. And 019/013 people were seen as kampung, since their coverage was the best outside of urban areas. How times have changed. Thanks to the power of MNP.  biggrin.gif

At that time, you can say Maxis branding is premium. To be honest, there was a period where Maxis really prevail. I was a traveling salesman about 10 years ago. Mainly to south and east coast. I can say, Maxis would outdo others easily. Perhaps even now.

However, things change rapidly in the last 5 years or so. I think Maxis was standing too long while other progressed. Now I think they are pretty equal except for LTE which probably still have Maxis a slight advantage because they were the first one to break the code and use 1800mhz without approval.

agree, IMO best plan for maxis is the iphone plan which only can sign when you buy iphone with them doh.gif
RM 38 got 50 min call and 50 sms yet got 3gb data
more than enough lar whistling.gif

right now just hope maxis come out similar plan before I jump to celcom 38
since I just renew my data plan on 20th April doh.gif
pay RM 30 just for 1gb data sweat.gif
yet still need to transfer all the balance to other number before I port, else all credit will burn cry.gif

I don't think green monster would counter offer. If they did, One Plan would become One Failure.

Today went to cut my Digi simple to nano size to compare. Seem like celcom 4g coverage better than Digi even in Kepong. Speed wise celcom also better, 3xMbps vs 2xMbps.

I think wiser to port as I will get 6GB on both lines, compared to 3+1gb for both lines.

Even it did  back to 2 GB, it beats the green surfmore 50 with bundled with call and text..
Green surfmore doesn't have bundled call and after quota add-on data is ridiculously expensive

No...I hope it will stay on 3GB. Personally been using smart plan 50 and always suffer at the end of month. So happy after they free upgrade to 3GB.

Almost finish with testing celcom LTE coverage and speed. Before the speed uncapped, was not certain to port my old lines. Now, with the free 1gb and unlocked speed, doesn't need to think twice.

do you compare celcom and maxis 4g speed in kepong area ?
*
Unless Maxis offer 3GB and talk time, otherwise I won't even bother.

As for comparison, I did it once with my cousin's iPhone 6 on Maxis in KIP. Celcom is faster for download. I can't remember the upload score.

I got no notice or whatever. Just simply checl BAL STATUS and already carry over 600MB. I cant believe billing to fast. Registered new line on 3/5/2015. Looks like need to waste another month before cancelling.

I find that while the 4G is fast and quite a bit better than DiGi, cant help but noticed some place really without good coverage. For example, when I was at Desa Park City, it was very bad. DiGi also bad here.

Want to update on celcom coverage.

Since we have really good coverage in Klang Valley, I'm going to cover outstation instead.

Today I drove from KL to Cameron Highland, and I was surprised that Celcom only had Edge which Digi has HSPA+. There's some spot where Digi had no signal at all. I forgot to test in Ipoh. Went up Simpang Pulai to reach Cameron and along the way, celcom had Edge while Digi has no signal again. Once reached Cameron, both celcom and Digi have HSPA+. It's unfortunate that I forget to bring pin ejector, otherwise I could pop the Digi sim to my S6 to check if Digi had 4g here.

Oh... from rose apartment, seem like Digi trump celcom.

Yesterday went to Digi to transfer supplementary line to prepaid. An hour later submitted mnp request. Now already asking to switch sim. Planning to port my main line this weekend.

How come everyone is getting good signals?

I'm getting 3G (not full bar) in PJ and Subang Jaya / Glenmarie area. Got one shop even no signal.

The 3G is spotty. It's data transmission has some sudden stop not continuous. I can't get good 4G signals in PJ. sad.gif My U Mobile even though have limited 3G and LTE, I can get constant data transfer when I have it.
*
Celcom is not perfect. I think LTE wise still better with Maxis. Its just that Celcom is fast whenever there's good signal. Just like in my house, there are certain spot where the 4G is not responding well.

Overall, it is a bit better than DiGi in some place but worse in other as well. I do find them faster in the city and surrounding but sucks everywhere else. Like when I drove to Cameron Highlands, it never failed to get signal even though its only E. However when DiGi gets signal back, its usually H+ versus E for Celcom along North South Expressway.

I still port to Celcom because of the price difference compared to DiGi. No doubt DiGi is getting faster but Im getting too many blind spot where as Celcom (regardless of 3G/4G) still have signal and usable.

Many jump ship to Celcom cause excessive use of bandwidth, hence shoddy reception.

Digi & Maxis start to have free bandwidth because many left, and all the sudden everyone (what's left of them) enjoy the traffic free data speed.
*
Not really. Still many are with Maxis because their LTE service is most stable IMO.

DiGi begin offering free 1GB for SP50 and SP78 (non contract) because they could not roll out LTE fast enough. They are always using this tactic to retain customer. While its true that DiGi 3G is quite respectable nowadays, but they did little to improve the coverage. Many blindspot whereas Celcom and Maxis have coverage.

Celcom are rolling out 4G rapidly I think but I wonder what equipment they are using because no matter where you go, its always 1-2 bars. Yeah, burst speed is very good, but like some say, sometimes like not responding. Gave up on DiGi after a year because their ping is high. Takes a while before loading.
