Before this the current (cannot remember Itunes version) Itunes version, there will no password for itunes backup. So when I backup, the default is no password. But after updating, I do not realise, it has add password settting for the backup where i did not chose to tick it, so when I want to recover, it asked me the password, which i never set in the beginning. So it just left like that...no recovery, have to start all from beginning, all my photos, data...luckily my contact can be recovered because linked to my Outlook. The itunes backup still there but I cannot recover it due to unknown password. cry.gif

i think you should start to search with google about this. there are plenty of discussions about this online.

this one might be useful to start with, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3374140

yeah this was why i keep all the passwords in something like keepass, with password and usb key. update it whenever you have changed passwords and put it in a safe place.

good luck getting the data back.
