Sisters birthday is coming up and i think this would be a decent present. She's not a photographer but travels often and I figured that she would get good mileage out of a gift like this.

Right now she's using a Nikko point and shoot which is pretty good too so I'm thinking if I give her this new one, she'd pass her old one to me.

Any idea on what to buy and where?

If she takes selfies then the Sony a5100 would be a good choice, with remaining budget for other accessories like lenses etc.

If she is more interested in taking non-selfie photos then I would suggest getting a Fujifilm; maybe a Fujifilm XM1 and a good prime lens thumbup.gif

Thanks for the quick response guys; these seem to be well in my budget according to Amazons prices.

Any recommendation on where to purchase them from?

Also, I don't think I'll be getting lens as well since she's just gonna be using them while traveling.

Is there an easy way to tell if I'll be browsing for options online if one lens is for mirrorless cameras or not?

If you already don't plan to get lens upgrades, might as well go for RX100m3? Best compact you can get at the moment.

I bought a5100 recently... quite amazed by the af speed and low light shooting. Before gst was rm1650 only. Big sensor = better image quality.

I've heard good things about this and old versions are good too right? Are they mirrorless?

I've bought from Shashinki before, they've delivered fine. Prices are only slightly higher than negotiating cash prices at LYP or the like.

I read good reviews for the sony a6000

Shashinki list a6000 + 16-50 lens at rm 2330 (add 55-210mm lens for around rm 3k in total)

All this talk but no question on budget or even why TS thinks his sister even need mirrorless? If you dont mind budget and that your sister only do jpeg, fuji rangefinder cameras with fixed or flat lens would be nice present. m4/3 camera is also nice like the lx100. I dont think your sister will do much lens purchasing so mirrorless is kind of waste.
