Hi all, understand that for smart switches there will be wider selection if there is neutral cable available.

Hence I got question as below (for single phase electricity supply):

1. As I will be adding one light point to the ceiling, is it possible to splice a neutral wire at lighting point to the light switch for smart switch installation?

2. If to pull a new neutral wire from DB, will there be major hacking work for the house?

Anyone here has electrician familiar with pulling neutral wire can recommend?

1) meaning, looping neutral from the light fixture and extend to the switch?

2) not really

Fyi, there’s a also no neutral hack that works for wifi & zigbee. If you use zigbee switch it still acts as signal repeater/router

Yeah. Something like this:

Will it cause short circuiting for the light fittings?

No, should be ok as long as it's from the same mcb.
I had one switch that used neutral from a different mcb but no issues so far

Should be OK, since the live and neutral are from the same "source" which is your lights. So you basically just install a parallel circuit to power the switch only, confirm no issue.

Thanks for the confirmation. It gave me confidence to move forward.

Many contractor not willing to pull the neutral wiring from DB saying it involves massive hacking works, so this is the best alternative I can think of.

Separately, if I have 3G or 2G switch I just need one (1) neutral wire to power all the switches?

Yes 1 neutral wire enough, you're powering the circuit board, relay and wifi inside the switch, not the lights. Don't need very thick, 1.5mm2 mega cable brand or got sirim cert at least is enough d, can refer to ST guideline

Many cap ayam electrical contractors in Malaysia. You can check contractors registered with ST for confirmation they are proper, contractors, not cap ayam self learn one.

All my switch point at home has neutral from lighting point back to switch, so far so good using since December.

Got about 40+ switches.

Thanks again for the confirmation.

Want to ask also whether is it possible buy the smart switches from Taobao?

Will it be regionally locked? What are the cons to be encounter if buy via Taobao? Any brands that can circumvent region lock?

I am using Aqara M2 Global Hub connected to "Other" server. Some of my newer switches from China (there was a few D1) that can't link via "Other" server. So I just did HomeKit mode for these, which means I lose some capability such as wattage consumption monitoring etc. But given the choice again, I would just get China hub and connect to China server instead. But I'm too lazy to link all 40+ again... and all my automation and namings done in HomeKit already biggrin.gif.

If not mistaken, it was the switches I ordered directly from Taobao didn't work (these I ordered mainly to get the black casing which isn't sold here in Malaysia)... and one of the switches which I ordered from a local shop also didn't work.

I see. Can the switches from Taobao connect to Home Assistant?

Aqara aside, any other brands to recommend?

Sonoff? Yeelight?

I think the other guy could try to change to China server and connect them, but he will need to reconnect everything; i had to go through that. Are the switches from taobao even much cheaper than the ones on Shopee tho? If you are planning to use the Aqara hub, as long as they can pair with the hub then yes it connects to HA.

Having look further I end up getting a Zigbee dongle which allow any Zigbee devices to talk to Home Assistant via Zigbee2MQTT.

That way I got more options in getting switches.

Hopefully it wont backfire on me.

Hi all good day,

I got my electrician pulled the neutral wiring for the entire house.
Prior to starting of the work, I communicated clearly with the electrician what I intend to do using the picture I asked here several posts back and he fully understand what I want.

My question is:
1. How to verify whether the neutral wire pulled correctly as it should? (meaning whether there is power coming from neutral)
2. Must I get a neutral powered switch to confirm the electrician work or it can be verified via Multimeter?

Anyone got the new aqara fp1e?

https://www.aqara.com/en/product/presence-sensor-fp1e/

Seems like the new ai spatial feature can filter those interference like ceiling fans, curtains, ac

I bought 2 to try it out. It able to connect via zigbee2mqtt but did not expose any parameters to test out automations.
I reckon the AI learning requires FP1E to pair with M3 hub so it might not able to distinguish ceiling fan air movement and human movement via zigbee2mqtt.

To date I tested with Sonoff SNZB-06P and Screek 2A but both still can't differentiate between ceiling fan air movement and human movement.
Was hoping FP1E able to solve this but I'm not getting my hopes up cry.gif

Hi bro, did you try this for z2m

https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issue...ment-2326967353

Screek 2A need to exclude areas with fan but there’s still issue with the not too great static detection on ld2450

And if you use LD2410, you can still exclude distance for the ceiling detection, for example if it hovers around 400 cm - 450cm.

So with the ai spatial learning enabled you can exclude the fan from your testing with fp1e?

Sorry mine was Screek F2, not 2A but context still the same.

Mine still shows nothing tho. I forcefully removed it and re-pair and it still shows pic above.

Will be great if you pair the device then it shows the parameters like any other zigbee devices I had thus far.

Would really like to give U200 a try as well but currently bit too expensive IMO for this lockset.

Still nothing even after you add the external converter?

As for the F2, try add this extra config to your yaml to exclude the fan distance

I shall give it a try again see if it works. Will further update.
Cheers!
