Hi,
I am a newbie to this smarthome forum which I have learnt a lot.

Recently I bought from lelong:
1. Xiaomi Smart Home Automation Security Mijia 5 in 1 Kit (RM305):
- Multifunctional gateway remote control;
- Window door sensor;
- Smart wireless switch;
- Human body sensor;

- Smart outlet;

2. Yeelight LED strip (RM135)

3. Yeelight Smart LED Ceiling Light (RM299)
4. 5 pcs of Sonoff (RM186)

I have lab set-up & bought-off all except the Sonoff.

I am still exploring ...

you can turn power on and off to the aircon with the sonoff pow but how do you actually turn it on without the remote?
except maybe use the aircon's "auto re-start when power returns function"
you cant really control it like switching fan speed or temp setting
*
May be can consider Sensibo Sky?

I think i read the kit-all in 1 is discontinue. No more. Whatever you can find are the balance stock in the market.

Can someone tell me why xiaomi website don't have direct link to aqara? even https://www.aqara.com does not seem genuine? is it third party cause i got some suspicions pop up warning for the site.

Go to lelong and search Mijia 5 in 1.

I like the idea of using universal power socket outlet.
Thanks.

Have you consider Xiaomi Yeelight Bedside Lamp with 365 Different Colorful Nights?

I noticed my yeelight strips got a new function called Flow mode. Not sure if it was there before but I just noticed it. It kinda like cycling thru all the colors but like a flow. Pretty cool effect
*
Really?
Mine is still in the box after some quick functional tests last weekend.
I will try to check tonite or tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing.

My complaint:
Yeelight strip is only 2m long. Not long enough to put along the staircase floor trim or along the balcony railing.
Need to think of another longer LED strip solution with smart plug ... may be.

too expensive. i bought xiaomi aircon companion instead - havent install yet
*
Yup, expensive RM500-600.
Some LY forumer sell RM400 for 2nd hand item.

Wow ... Xiaomi Aircon Companion is new to me.
Is it smart enough to be able to change the temp setting & play with other mode settings?
How does the gadget control the aircond with IR?

I will research more tonite.

From Amazon on the product description:

https://www.amazon.com/Generic-Xiaomi-Mijia...m/dp/B075C515PC

It seems that the device can work as standalone (alert via 80dB sound alarm) as well as synchronize with the Xiaomi Gateway (additional remote alert on your phone).

I mean the app. I think the app updated by itself. Few days ago it’s blue in color now
But my 5 Sonoff- I managed to update 4 only. Still got one more
*
The app was auto-updated 3 days ago in my phone. Was surprised with the new layout appearance when I first saw it.
Encountered at least 2 times of incidences where the system hanged and claimed itself offline :-(
After reseting (off & on) the hard switch of the lights, the problem solved.
Seems that this updated version is not as good as the previous version ... somehow, contrary to one of the stated reason for the upgrade.

So it’s not only mine acting up....
Btw how’s your Xiaomi experiments? Is it working out for you?
Aqara’s plan on selling their system in the US soon so lots of new implementation like English, HomeKit and hopefully Alexa.
*
Oh my ... I only tested my Xiaomi Mijia 5 in 1 Kit & Yeelight LED strip months back, it works well and then packed back into the box ... plan to fix them for my new home (still under construction) later, may be in Dec18 :-)

For my current home, I am using 5 Sonoff basic and 1 Yeelight Ceiling light.
It served my family simple needs ... able to control the "key strategic" lights with some schedules (replacing all the Selcon photocells) as well as able to control remotely by phones (both mine & my wife's phones) when we are away from home.
So far, I found that EweLink app connected faster compared to Yeelight app when I opened both apps together, at the same time.

I also managed to coach my electrician about simple Smarthome, affordable Sonoff and capability of Yeelight Ceiling light (which is new to him) so that he can now "cari makan" better with more value add offering to his customers :-)
He was very excited with these new knowledge.

For my new home, I am thinking of using Sonoff Touch Wall Switches due to my pleasant experiences with current Sonoff basic product.
Of course, few Yeelight Ceiling Lights due to able to set different colors ranging from 2700k to 6500k, besides its nice appearance.

Works but damn lousy. They added so called automation to raise or lower blinds at certain time and days but totally not working. This company lazy wan. Simple things but can’t do properly. Don’t ever buy tech products from Swedish tech companies. They are only good for furniture and meat balls

Good you share your experiences.
Now I can discount out this product.
Have you tried Aqara Curtain Motor? You are a fan of Aqara product 😅.

So far my 5 Sonoff and 1 Yeelight Ceiling Light are quite stable and doing the intended functions well.

I intend to buy Broadlink E-Pro (RM189) to play around with my various aircond, fan and tv remote controls.
Any pitfalls, success stories or experiences that some of you can share with me?
Thanks.

Woke up at 4am and ✨ ping ... I think I know the answer why.
Upon checking, my hypothesis is confirmed 😅.

I used my wife’s Android as the primary device to connect to Sonoff during installation as I struggled to connect to Sonoff with my iPhone 8 Plus 📱. Then I shared the eWeLink app connectivity from my wife’s phone with my phone. My phone is kind of a secondary device. That’s why I can’t see the whole device revision and some other primary settings 👇.

Maybe it is better for me to avoid updating my wife app’s version every now & then 😅 since everything with Sonoff in my house are working fine and as intended.

Anyone has experience with Alpha1080X Solar Street Light Genaration 2 and can share with me for my guidance?
Thinking of putting one or two in front of my balcony (height 13') open area 30'x60'.

Thanks.

If your lights are fixed at plaster ceiling then straight use the Sonoff basic. Much cheaper and no need pull neutral wire to the switch which is an additional cost. Install the Sonoff basic near the lights. Your existing light switch must always be On

But imo it’s pointless to have T1 touch or Sonoff basic for ceiling lights. You can’t automate it unless maybe for porch lights where you want it to come on or go off every day at a certain time.

Imagine you have T1 Touch for your bathroom. What you gonna do? Still need to touch the switch to turn on or off. What’s the point in all that? 😅
*
Sonoff basic as wifi switch is good enough to control strategic house lightings and fans.

On last Friday, while buying fans at local electrical shop, I shared about Sonoff and Yeelight Ceiling Light with the shopowner and his young son.
They were shocked when I told them that I can get Yeelight Ceiling light at the same price of their normal Circular housing shape led light with is not a smart light at all.

I asked them to research more and consider selling these products on top of the current products line-up.

Wooden door is common but grille door is rare.
