i am starting to research whether to implement smart home appliances to my future house.

This is the list of items which i think of:-
- centralized hub
- light bulbs
- sensors (like motion sensor for night time)

what are the other things that possible to integrate in?

and out of hundred or thousands of brands out there, which are the recommended ones?
i can think of xiaomi/google/ or those taht support IFTTT will be the bets

Too many info scattered around
Would like to know if I buy sonoff to replace light switches, what should I take note?
Is there any issue with having neutral or not?

Thanks for all those feedback on the mandatory for Neutral line for Sonoff.
Looks like i need to plan properly, as quite troublesome to pull neutral to all switches.

what are the light switch brand/smart devices available, and compatible with google assistance?
From what i gather here:-

1) Sonoff - need neutral line
2) Broadlink
3) Aqara/Xiaomi

I don’t think so. My friend says he can see Mi Home but no devices after he adds it to Google Home. Not sure if he’s doing anything wrong. He’s using Aqara Hub and devices.

argh.. that's a shame
i hope to try on automation with google home, and go with xiaomi/aqara (since these are cheaper and more choices)

Still the same. It is a Wifi bulb and not a Zigbee bulb.
And NO. Home Assistant is not the same with Google Home.
Xiaomi stuff don't play well with Google Home/Google Assistant.

This is sad. Xiaomi stuff is easier to get

was checking through the forum, and just to confirm my reading so far.
in our house, the normal lighting/fan switches does not come with Neutral wire right? so i'll need to find an appropriate switch that does not require Neutral
