http://forum.yeelight.com/t/finally-mihome...ore-server/2470

yeelight staffs are very responsive. kudos to them.
based on them all xiaomi servers outside of china will support google home, alexa and IFTTT soon.
china server will support xiaomi own voice
some users who are installed pre release version of mi home app already reported they can see mi gateway is on the list of device we can add for singapore server but it's not working yet.

if most of xiaomi devices are supported by google home, home assistant is not really useful for me now, for automation logic i can just use mi home app since i mostly use mi home ecosystem at home, for door lock most likely i will buy august smart lock, amazon can ship to malaysia.
for those devices supported by google home like switch, light, remote etc, can setup command in google home.
*
Nice! i'm been using China server up till now, as other servers do not support the full range of devices yet.
Are you on their Singapore server now? How is the experience now?

hi guys,

just a thought. recently my auto gate controller board was damaged due to lightning stike from the evening thunder storms.

this got me thinking, with all the smart devices we currently have at home, is there any need from lightning protection? if so, what form? i can think of adding a surge protection at the main incoming, but not sure whether this would help.

I have almost all the xiaomi smart home stuff...From smoke / gas / cam / yeelight / kettle / mitu / aqara / purifiers / sockets , also broadlink rm2, Google home and some other diy smart stuff.

One thing about gas detector is China and Malaysia are using different gas type. Xiaomi gas detector is for detecting nature gas ch4 while Malaysia have more luxury in using lpg ( liquid petroleum gas). I had tested to leak my lpg gas directly to xiaomi gas detector, and nothing happens.

The second thing, smoke detector, it is kind of slow. It only trigger when you got really alot of smoke.

Aqara socket sometimes will missing in my xiaomi apps. I have to reset it to get it back into my list.
Yeelight + Google home only support in xiaomi Singapore server, but all my setup was in mainland server. I had tested create another account in sg and share to my mainland account, it won't work.

Hope this will help and here is my latest intergration Google home and my diy kitchen system demo.

https://youtu.be/N1L8ACgKWB4

And this going to be my next project for my living room light system.

Is the SG server already hosting all the functions? All I see on the yeelight forum is that a moderator asking everyone to watch that space for further updates. I've also tried switching over but nothing happens after adding devices on the SG server, and the major issue after that was i had to re-adda few items after switching back to mainland server. Very time consuming.

It's actually easier than it sounds. Once you add gateway hub into home assistant, all the aqara sensors/switch connected will be listed.
Then can start customize automation with google assistant

Kiding
Can you add aqara wall switch to smartthings?
*
Just for clarity on this point "Once you add gateway hub into home assistant".
Do you mean this configuration will end up with 2 hubs? One which is the Xiaomi gateway, another the HA server (which can be a smartthing hub / raspberry pi etc)?

Also, are there any delays when issuing a voice command until the actual action happens? I remember seeing a video shared here, and there seemed to be a 5 seconds delay until the light / fan turns on/off.

Can i use this aqara to replace auto gate switch ?
*
Better open up your auto gate system / switch to have a look.
i bought a switch only to know that the wall switch are dry contacts.

ended up fitting my aqara switch to the toilet fan in the end.

too expensive. i bought xiaomi aircon companion instead - havent install yet
*
are you referring to the one which has a built in gateway function?
Actually for the unit to work does it need to be facing the aircond's IR receiver? i see in photos or videos they are shown mounted in the plug beside the aircond, wonder how does it send signal to the air cond?

This morning I noticed Mi Home app now shows my location's temperature. But still no humidity or air quality
The ones you see here (underlined red) are from my own sensors
Never seen it work previously.....another step forward.... rclxms.gif

I want something that can control both ir and rf. Want it to control my autogate.
*
was looking for the same thing but haven't decided maybe this works for you if you are on xiaomi ecosystem:

Xiaomi taobao
xiaomi taobao 2

i am guessing you will need to know the frequency the autogate remote is operating at.
one thing i am not sure tho is it needs the receiving device to have "learning" capability, not sure if auto gate can do this.

Need to verify the RF signal for autogate
Another way is just connect sonoff to your autogate system so you can just control with ewelink.
*
for this method, the sonoff is connected to a relay and then to the autogate system right?
or does sonoff have products with dry contact relay built in?

aw.. this is hard.. all chinese.

from what i gather at the moment, it seems that u will need to have the xiaomi IR round transmitter first, then the receiver which comes in both formats (box or usb dongle) contains the RF antenna which will do the last mile communication with the RF device.

xiaomi IR -> IR/RF converter -> RF receiving device (auto gate).

during purchase, u will need to specify the receiving device frequency (433 / 315 / etc Hz).

now comes the tricky part which i don't quite understand yet. the description claims that the product can learn the RF commands of the device it is controlling, but not sure how this can be done.

For autogate control in the market, is there a common set of standard command that the RF remote uses which this product can just replicate?

The switch is just like grounding a button on the control board placed outside the house, I believe. It is more like signal level power, probably 6V. I never check  biggrin.gif

So, you will need something to power the remote switch
*
yes, autogate switches connected to the wall in the house are basically momentary NO switches, and the wires connected to it are DC signals for the controller board.

the sonoff product recommended by another reader should work, but unfortunately for my case, i am tied to xiaomi ecosystem at the moment still finding other ways to integrate the autogate in to my system.

Hi All,

How many Xiaomi Gateway needed for 2 storey house ?
*
i'm using one unit to cover a 2 story house. The Gateway on level 1, and never faced any coverage issue so far, but then again maybe i am staying in a small 2 story.

planning to get a smart security camera and considering between Da Fang vs Aqara's Camera with Gateway, since i am still on xiaomi ecosystem.

any comment / experience on both of these models?

i currently own a 1st gen. xiaoyi camera. it's good for movement alerts but since it's old tech, i feel that the videos captured are not that clear. to note, i am using this to monitor movement / intrusion at my front gate. current camera gives lots of false alarm as any cars / bikes passing by also triggers the alarm - rendering the idea useless at the moment.

Only got Dafang so I dunno about aqara cam.

The Aqara cam has 180º view where the Dafang is 120º. Some people like the fish eye view, some people dont so its up to you. It also cost more. PQ wise, I think the Dafang is really good with nice and sharp images. It can detect and track motion. Pans around on its on, etc. For about Rm100, you cannot ask for more.

One thing, of all the Xiaomi products, I think their IP Cams are the most unreliable but for the cheap price, cannot complain. Having said that, their IP Cams also gets the most firmware updates which means they are always improving it.

Motion detection cams are not meant to be place at high traffic areas. Try adjusting the angle so you only aim it at nearer objects. The Dafang does not have zones where you can mark out where you want the motion detection to target on. Not sure about the Aqara Cam but I think should be same
*
thanks for replying.
yes, i saw one of the features are zoning of the alert area.

unreliable meaning the unit always gets disconnected? so far my xiaoyi is fine, doing daily back ups to my mi router 3.
but recently don't see any more updates, probably old model so no more support.

Yes, Smarthing can do it. rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

Smarthing can also integrate the xiaomi sensors and aqara Smart Switches.

I have try the autogate by presence, but have to be careful because the autogate will turn on when i still far away. shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif

are u using geofence to trigger your autogate? how do u know when to open to gate automatically?

It is not as scary as what you think. But you must know the safety way to handle it.

I did get short some cell when handle it. Spark and get hot the cell. But nothing much happen when I intervene it fast. From there, I learn how to handle it and design a safety way to protect.

18650 cell are much more safer than polymer type. Because of the 18650 steel casing which you can abuse handling it. (till certain degree)

I m still at beginning stage. Collecting parts and cells. Still a long way to go.  yawn.gif

For cells, surprising most of the qty, I can get it from here lowyat. Cheaper too. The rest from US. Which the cost is abit higher due to tax and shipping. Don't try online like lazada, lelong, shopee etc. Alot of fake cells.  ranting.gif I try it and all is fake. Throw away. This online shop is like swimming in a infected shark pool.

You have to patient to hunt for good price. As long as the price is staying low, it is cheaper than the lead acid battery.

The beginning...

just a guess. are those panasonic cells?
if with the protective circuits then they are quite safe, but costly.
you are welding these cell together on your own?

Panasonic ? Very expensive boss. I wish I have it. But can't afford it.  sweat.gif

This are mix non protective LG and Lishen battery. Protective battery is very expensive. Not worth to DIY.

You can design your own safety protector.

To stay at low cost, decide not to use weld. Just Solder it. Welding unit can cost almost 1k.  sweat.gif

i see. from the green colour, thought they were panasonic ones.
have fun with your project then.

Btw, not annoying meh put PIR and motion sensor to activate light or anything ?

If you put in the toilet, 1/2 way shit, shiok2 surfing phone, than light off. It won't detect if you only slight move. Unless install near to you.

I hate this my back yard pir/motion light. I have to keep constant to move or wave the sensor when it OFF. Sensor is only 1-1.5m away from me.

i just saw on shopee there are sound activated switches made by big brands e.g. schneider etc. worth a try to solve your toilet predicament.. icon_idea.gif
