Who'd want to spend so much just to look at the power usage. If the device can guarantee reduce power usage by even 10% many would buy Smart Home, Let's discuss

QUOTE(ozak @ Apr 20 2018, 09:38 AM) Of course can. It should be able to display usage on app. It is more flexible this way. Our tariff calculation are segregated into 3 tiers for different rates. So, more practical to do through apps on the phone than device firmware to check current billing status wirelessly I believe. Use Local LAN is more practical for reading. It depend on the programmer. How and what he want to do with the data capture from the coil. It is all by the program to do the calculation. My simple 3pin plug energy meter also have the tariff usage display. Maybe in future, TNB will use this device to send your usage data to their server by wifi. No need require the guy visit each home. Opps!, did I give some bad suggestion to TNB ? |

QUOTE(ozak @ Apr 20 2018, 09:59 AM) Don't need like display the detail la. Just the total cost is sufficient. Yes, but rate may change from time to time. It is more convenient for end user if it is like apps update than to key in new data in unit Not a problem also if want to prg it to display on the unit. Program write is flexible. |

QUOTE(enriquelee @ Apr 30 2018, 08:55 AM) My Sonoff LED is not blinking at all. This means it died off? Not blinking at all means either no power coming in or faulty unit, I might say. Otherwise it will blink if no connection.P/S: Lights connected to it can not be on too. Maybe this will help: http://52.80.128.166/?p=1271 |

With many companies producing and selling smart touch switches that can be controlled using WiFi from anywhere, does each of these companies set-up their own server to provide services for free? Anyone has any idea on this?

Thanks for infoI think they using 3rd party or some agreement with hosting provider. As long as they can pay the yearly cost generated from the product income. Like my home server. Last time is troublesome to setup ddns by ownself. Now the maker provide the free service. Very convenient now. |

QUOTE(idoblu @ May 3 2018, 10:28 AM) trust me, thats not a 16amp. Lazada sellers dunno what they are selling most of the time No reason to sell socket for China or Australia standard in Malaysia. You can easily order from Alibaba instead. I would just change the plug to local type. 16amp is a totally different size - much bigger and holes further apart. its not necessary for a universal socket cause once you plug this thing in, you wont take it out. its for his aircon high up on the wall near his aircon |

QUOTE(idoblu @ May 3 2018, 11:37 AM) thats why you need to buy them from China lo Order from Alibaba would be still fast enough.and you cant change this plug as it is buildin to the AC Companion I believe the only way to buy in Malaysia is the universal type. I've check the manufacturer website. the universal one does support 16A. The difference is only that the earth blade is wider and longer. https://www.schneider-electric.com.my/en/pr...2C-white#search |

QUOTE(hapa @ May 7 2018, 08:29 AM) Due to limited power point available in my living room. Rather than hacking the wall and ceiling to add additional power points for better lighting control. I plan to use these smart switch to loop existing power points and provide control over those lighting/zoning. I do not know if there is any branded smart switch that hooks to existing wiring (I mean at wall switch) to simulate multiple wiring. There are many from generic brands that do this, like flick wall switch once will light up one point and flick the switch twice will light up another point, etc. There is also option for using remote. The receiving unit need to be installed at light points on ceiling. Branching of light points is at the ceiling, on the receiver. For branded smart switch, the best option is to buy a battery operated switch that will act as transmitter to control the receiver located at the light point. It work like the one above but instead of separate remote control, each switch controls one light point. the switch itself is a remote transmitter (battery operated) that can be mount on the wall anywhere you like without hacking the wall. |

QUOTE(henryj8 @ May 8 2018, 07:04 AM) Check the support list for smarthings hub. I think the Samsung SmartThings are multi platform, support Z-Wave, Zigbee and IP-based devices. However, like you said frequencies are different from country to county. Z-Wave band in Singapore is same as UK but different from Malaysia. Zigbee I think the sameYou also have to find out if the device is either parallel import to Singapore or dedicate for Singapore local market as the zwave frequency will be different. US zwave frequency is 908.42mhz and Singapore is 868.5mhz. |

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ May 30 2018, 09:53 PM) I'm in agreement with your on this. The Reference Designation on the PCB is the step down voltage from the multi-winding output. It is the AC voltages. One output is 24V which probably rectified by that full bridge rectifier (big square with hole in center. The other output is probably the 12V rectified by the two diodes (half bridge rectifier). |

QUOTE(Snoy @ May 31 2018, 09:31 AM) I'm using app to control my autogate too. I wonder why need to tinker inside that control box when you can just replace the wall gate switch with remote one It's useful especially when we are not at home and the postman is about to delivery bigger parcel. I can open the gate and let him to drop in while monitoring with camera. Similar to Amazon key concept. FYI, I'm using Broadlink RM pro to control it via RF. No modification of autogate control system is needed. |
