Does the Xiaomi Aqara switch needs a hub to work?
Can it fit the lobang with no problems?
Thanks
*
Im also interested on this but then there is a couple of version, one is just a stick on switch while another is the 86 socket which fits the lobang, i think. And im also pretty sure it needs the gateway. Also saw a tutorial of a guys just using the sonoff basic to connect to the wall switch which is pretty cool.

Wont the basic do the trick for 4 downlights, because currently they are all controlled using one switch now. Or do i still need to have 4 channel for it?
*
one Sonoff will do, just make sure you put the Sonoff in the main cable before it splits to the other 4 lights
Turn off your mains breaker before working on it.

Just out of curiosity, if the actual wall switch is ON and you OFF it via sonoff app and lost WiFi after that, will you able to ON the lights?

Xiaomi Aqara needs Xiaomi Hub or Smartthings hub, the wired version is using zigbee, hence, it needs hub to communicate, there is another version which is wireless version, which is act like a button to turn on/off xiaomi managed lights

Another cheaper way is to set your existing WiFi router to repeater mode and connect to 4g modem like this

https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=550143617798

And also grab small UPS like this one so your router & usb stays on when blackout

Is that doggle receiver strong signal ?

I m thinking using solar panel with battery for the router/modem, cctv and main supply device.

Than control remote the main power supply for the whole house. And others switch with sonoff once the main supply is ON.

Should be ok as long as it's nearby main router or plug directly to router's usb port

How much do you estimate if you use solar panel to power all other devices?

is it better to get the Samsung Smartthings hub instead of the Xiaomi Gateway? Since Smartthings can work with Google Home.....

And then buy those Xiaomi sensors and Aqara Wall Switches, etc -

Would this be the way to go?

How long would the equipment last on solar energy?
Seems a lot cheaper if you just get a bigger ups for the cctv,
What other main supply device you're planning to use with solar?

Go for it since it's only twice the price of xiaomi gateway instead of the usual 100usd
Plus with zwave , but need to use US z-wave devices for that

There's also the xiaomi aqara 1080p ipcamera that functions as gateway (2 in 1)

Equipment lifetime is not depend on the solar energy. Solar energy is only provide the supply. The rest is depend on the equipment quality.

But 1 thing for sure is the equipment have less device to convert the voltage and doesn't require stabilize. That reduce the equipment cost and longer lifetime.

But the setup cost is expensive.

Take for example setting up a remote control above.

Equipment need and consumption

1) router/modem - 2A
2) Network cctv - 0.5A
3) Sonoff 4channel - 0.5A
4) Led Light 12w - 1A

All run on 12V, 24hr accept the Led light which is 12hr. Total consumption around 1.1kw for a day.

Calculate the solar supply require is

1) battery of 232Ahr - RM2.4k
2) 300watt panel or 3x 100watt panel. - RM2.1k
3) 25A charger controller. - RM500
4) misc - RM500.

Just the solar system is already cost RM5.5k. sweat.gif

Don't understand your spec.

What is your solar wattage ? What is the battery Ahr ?

60W refer to ? 30A refer to ? Cause if 30A is 12v x 30A = 360W. And 60W / 12v = 5A.

I also don't know what it means. What details do I need to ask from the manufacturer? BTW, they say can run 7/24 1 Ip camera together with 1 wireless AP.

Smartthings Hub is z-wave/zigbee controller, it actually has Bluetooth as well, just smartthings doesn't enable it.

As such, Smartthings Hub has widest range of device compatibility, it can manage a lot of devices even it is not smartthings certified devices. there are many developers in the community build their own device type handler to make it work with Smartthings, such as Xiaomi zigbee devices, broadlink, sonoff
