1. As long as you got the z-wave hub with the right frequency you can use it.

2. Yeah, can use even if offline, because homeassistant has direct access to gateway hub that gets feedback from other sensors.
Also you can get battery status from the sensors too automatically, been using then since last year, so far only dropped to 50

3. You're gonna love it, just need to allocate which room to have those speakers so can respond anytime  biggrin.gif

Hi,

Thanks again for replying.

1. So, there isn’t any problem using US Z-wave product here? I assumed there were legal issues [different frequency and all]. That’s nice to know smile.gif

2. That’s good! rclxms.gif I’ll look at Xiaomi Smart Home products as well.

3. Is there a difference in speed when you ask Alexa to execute a command vs asking Google Home execute the same command? Or any lag is not that noticeable?

Thanks again.

My smarthome integration with google assistant/home is almost complete, managed to get auto gate to work by voice command to google assistant.
I use broadlink universal pro remote which support 433mhz and integrate it with home assistant, from home assistant integrate with google using google actions.
For automation logic like auto on aircond when room is ho and occupied i use mi home ecosystem. It’s cheap and reliable. I heard very soon they will integrate mi home with alexa and google home. Yeelights already support all those things.
*
Can you share your source or info regarding the mi home integration with Google home? I am assuming this is the 'official' feature opened up by xiaomi? Or is this done using other workarounds?

I am in the process of building a raspberry server to host either domoticz or home assistance which is widely discussed here, but if xiaomi now enables Google integration then that would be awesome.

1. It's more of legal issue, that's why got difference in each region. Like some people using those extra large dish for tv channel

2. Checkout gearbest, they're selling aqara sensors really cheap now

3. Both are instant, just need to have good wifi signal/stable internet

All servers except China will support Alexa/IFTTT/GoogleHome. For China server, Xiaomi has its own voice control device named Xiao AI, works just as Alexa.
based on them all xiaomi servers outside of china will support google home, alexa and IFTTT soon.
china server will support xiaomi own voice
some users who are installed pre release version of mi home app already reported they can see mi gateway is on the list of device we can add for singapore server but it's not working yet.

if most of xiaomi devices are supported by google home, home assistant is not really useful for me now, for automation logic i can just use mi home app since i mostly use mi home ecosystem at home, for door lock most likely i will buy august smart lock, amazon can ship to malaysia.
for those devices supported by google home like switch, light, remote etc, can setup command in google home.

Hi,

Thanks again for replying.

1. Sorry for asking. Then, wouldn’t it be unwise to use US Z-Wave here? Or since the range is very limited, usually within the walls of a house, it doesn’t matter much? Are you using entirely US based Z-wave products or just the lock?

2. I will check out Gearbest smile.gif

3. That’s nice to know rclxms.gif

Thank you once aain.

Only for the lock, the z-wave usb range is 150m according to the spec.
Even if one your z-wave devices a bit far away from the hub, the z-wave signal would just bounce to another z-wave device like repeater.

Nice! i'm been using China server up till now, as other servers do not support the full range of devices yet.
Are you on their Singapore server now? How is the experience now?

few of my switch sensors were fried, maybe due to power surge
went without a selection of home automation for quite a few weeks

seriously, seems the old way seems so much easier n realistic hahahhaah

only thing it really helps are lights on timer, other than that... hmmmm

building another new home soon, been deciding what type of home automation can be done, and is there a need for it

seems like its not really applicable to older ppl to use voice commands or whatsoever

What switch sensors brand were you using that got fried?
Probably easier for older people if using something like remote or lcd touch panel to control everything.

Like ir signal from remote would trigger automation in home assistant or build diy touch control panel using lcd + raspberry

i think the sensors were either aeotec or fibaro

frankly, those fire sensors and such, battery life is farked, need to change like every 4 to 5 months

lets say if using lcd touch panel, it means the lcd is fixed at the wall, no different from common switches
or lets say ipad style, they still need to lug it ard, end of the day wont it be more hassle than automation?

Really? I thought zwave sensors can last more than a year since they don't consume much batteries

Seems like using remote is the way to go if control panel is too much of a hassle. Just need to label function for each remote key, hopefully the remote doesn't get lost though

Will August Smart Lock work with Android devices? I am interested to buy the lock but seems many Android devices owners are complaining about the August Lock's autolock and auto-unlock inability with Android devices as per feedback in Playstore.

You could get a remote like this

http://m.intl.taobao.com/detail/detail.htm...o_android_4.1.4

Then install this,

https://github.com/1technophile/OpenMQTTGat...aster/README.md

Gets the signal from remote and customize mqtt for automation.
