Hikvision Recorder Alarm Out Push Notification using Xiao Mi Smart Home System

Problem Statement:
Smartphone push notification from Hikvision China set CCTV recorder via cloud service can't be use outside of China.
This is especially when you do not have China working phone number, which will be required to register their cloud service.

Pre-requisites:
1. Xiao Mi Smart Home magnetic door/window sensor.
2. Two relatively tiny wires, any length within 100cm will do
3. Soldering kit

Solution:
Using magnetic door/window sensor from Xiao Mi smart home system, push notification to smartphone can be achieved by connecting Hikvision alarm out port to the magnetic door/window sensor using wire.

1. Unpacking the Xiao Mi magnetic door/window sensor and throw away put aside the magnet (smaller) piece, which yield you the electronic side of the magnetic sensor unit.
[attachmentid=9275739][attachmentid=9275741]

2. Dismantle the cover of the magnetic sensor unit and you will quickly notice the coin battery. By using a magnifier, Look for the printed text "GND" and "DI+" on the circuit board, highlighted in red box. You will be going to solder wires on the two holes.
[attachmentid=9275742][attachmentid=9275743]

3. Strip the wire on both sides. First remove the coin battery, and then solder one wire on the "GND" hole and the other wire on the "DI+" hole. After completed soldering, ensure no short between the newly soldered holes.
[attachmentid=9275744]

4. Put the coin battery back to the sensor unit. Try shorting the two wires. The blue LED light on the sensor will blink upon shorted connection, and blink again upon open connection. This proves that your soldering is working fine, and your sensor unit still alive. Putting back the sensor unit cover.
[attachmentid=9275745][attachmentid=9275747]

5. Now insert one wire to your Hikvision recorder Alarm out port indicated as '1' and the other wire to the Alarm out port indicated as "G". Push the orange button on the terminal with tiny screw driver before inserting the wire.
[attachmentid=9275748]

6. Pair the Xiao Mi magnetic door/window sensor unit to your Xiao Mi Smart Home gateway and configure the automation in Mi Home app. Please take note that for this case, the condition for automation you want to use is "Window/door closes", and then you can add instruction to send notification to your phone.
[attachmentid=9275749][attachmentid=9275750]

7. If you previously set up motion sensor and then output alert to alarm out port on your Hikvision CCTV recorder, then you will receive notification on your phone once there is a trigger.
[attachmentid=9275751][attachmentid=9275752]

Conclusion:
Alternative solution for smartphone push notification alert from Hikvision CCTV can be achieved through Xiao Mi Smart Home system by using Xiao Mi magnetic door/window sensor with proper soldering, connection and configuration.

Push notification can be received immediately when Hikvision alarm out triggered.
Appendix:
Hikvision alarm out motion sensing configuration (Sorry for the interface in Chinese words due to this recorder is China set)

You are using China Set DVR/NVR? Everyone here please do avoid buying china dahua, hikvison, ezviz ipcamera as most of them in chinese version and need china mobile number to register. Even successfully registered, the live streaming also block by the service provider as the camera server in china.

The Foscam buying from TB using mainland server, where the Foscam selling by the distributor here is using Amazon server.

Hi Sifus,

I'm planning to start to integrate smat stuff into my home and wanted to start small first. So far my research come up with sonoff and broadlink tc2.

Just need to confirm my understanding. Sonoff is connected to their cloud hence hub not needed. For Broadlink tc2, you will need the rm pro hub as well, because the tc2 sends RF signal to the hub and that's where you control from the app right? So the TC2 itself doesn't have wifi function in it just sending rf signals to the hub. (which i think also would have lower electricity consumption?)

I'm planning to integrate those to google home.

Thanks!

Exactly, better go with sonoff t1 since already got ewelink skill for google home and you get on/off state.

Not so sure about higher electricity consumption, looks pretty much the same.

Thanks for the reply. Too bad sonoff needs neutral wiring and i just checked my wall, there isn’t any. Just live wire.

Hope broadlink will integrate into google home soon.

Yeah that's just common for most house
Just hire wireman to loop neutral wire
For me, it was around rm15/outlet, and free if the switch was next to wall outlet.
I replaced around 5 switches at home with t1

Thank you for the suggestion.
My current old wall socket is 2 gang and i found 2 live wires going into different screws. For the wifi sockets, there’s only one live in screw for the two buttons. Will it be okay if I twist the both live wires and plug into the single live in screw in the wifi socket? Dont wanna fry the house up.

Edit : Ignore this. It's actually the grounding wire.

Hi,

I want to ask some question regarding home automation in Malaysia.

Does any uses HomeAssitant here? What do you pair it with? Z-Wave, Zigbee? Can some share what products that they use?

I’ve been reading quite a bit and it seems with Z-Wave products, I can use them locally [without internet connection] and does not interfere with WiFi signals; specific location can only use specific products [due to operating frequency].

However, Zigbee devices are easier to get due to it operating at 2.4GHz bandwidth [can get them from any country; though most seems to cloud-based].

1) For those who are using Z-Wave devices, may I know where do you buy them? And how does the warranty coverage works?

2) For those who use Zigbee based devices, can I know what are some good devices to get into [I’m still considering the Zigbee route]? Anything I should be wary off like regarding server offline issues etc?

3) Finally, does anyone use Echo devices [Echo Dot etc.] and/or Google Home [or the newest Mini] in Malaysia? Can I know how your experience has been? Do you get updates for those devices if updates are available?

Thank you.

1) Z-wave devices got different frequency based on region. Like for me, I have yale door lock from us, so need to have z-wave hub with us frequency. I used this Nortekusb stick that pairs with HA to control that lock.

2) So far only I have xiaomi hubs/sensors that's using zigbee. You can pair with homeassistant with the xiaomi gateway, do note you'll need the 2nd gen gateway hub. It's either with xiaomi gateway or samsung smartthings.
There's a list of devices that pairs with zigbee on that nortek z-wave/zigbee I bought earlier.

https://community.home-assistant.io/t/zha-z...e-results/17718

3) Using both, it's more or less the same when sending command to smart devices. Yes, you get updates, it's not limited by region but certain service like ordering/shopping items directly with your voice is only in us.

This is My Home Assistant. You need to go through the tutorial on youtube, github and blog to learn for the integration. It is more towards a customize system by programming.

You can go through the list here for the compatible components https://home-assistant.io/components/

However, if you looking for the plug and play system then the HA might not suitable for you.

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

1. I was under the impression that I can only use Z-wave frequency allocated for Malaysia. Is it okay to use US or other region based Z-wave devices?

2. I was having a look at Xiaomi products as well. Seems nice enough and not overly expensive. By the way, can I know if your Xiaomi products work without internet? I read that initial pairing need internet but can’t seem to find any info if I can use them without internet. And thank you for the link, will go through it to see what devices I can use.

3. Thank you, this helps a lot. I’m not overly concerned regarding certain services like shopping online. Just basic operability [automation command, online searches] and able to update smile.gif.

Thank you again for helping.

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

I’ve seen a few videos on it but I still have quite a lot to learn.

I do prefer doing it myself instead of plug and play but I might incorporate both of them.

1. If you don’t mind, may I know what brand devices you are using?

2. I’ve seen a few pictures of others Home Assistant page, but didn’t notice if they had battery level. Yours does [very much interested in this]. Is it applicable to all devices connected to HomeAssistant?

Thank you again.

1. As long as you got the z-wave hub with the right frequency you can use it.

2. Yeah, can use even if offline, because homeassistant has direct access to gateway hub that gets feedback from other sensors.
Also you can get battery status from the sensors too automatically, been using then since last year, so far only dropped to 50

3. You're gonna love it, just need to allocate which room to have those speakers so can respond anytime biggrin.gif

My smarthome integration with google assistant/home is almost complete, managed to get auto gate to work by voice command to google assistant.
I use broadlink universal pro remote which support 433mhz and integrate it with home assistant, from home assistant integrate with google using google actions.
For automation logic like auto on aircond when room is ho and occupied i use mi home ecosystem. It’s cheap and reliable. I heard very soon they will integrate mi home with alexa and google home. Yeelights already support all those things.

For wall switch I recommend xiaomi aqara wall switch if you already have mi gateway, the quality is good and right now the price in gearbest almost half the price buying from local seller

It communicate with gateway using zigbee
