No, they hire someone who can speak Chinese and understand Chinese to negotiate deals, so in the even of something dirty required, like bribing a Chinese official (which happens often), they can come off with their hands clean.

Damn.. smart observation! The Chinese are pretty good at these.. Western blokes ain't stupid either.

Ok. all these seems to be external/foreign companies cultures...

SO... what about.. <ahem>.. any MALAYSIAN style company that is worth to mention?

Any examples of any "Towering" Malaysian company culture that you would be proud that you want to work in? smile.gif

Did you know that Chinese (Mandarin) is the widest-spoken language, with 885 million speakers? Or that the KVLY TV tower near Fargo, North Dakota, is 2,063 feet tall (629 meters) and is the world's tallest manmade structure? National Geographic's new Family Reference Atlas is packed with this kind of information in addition to more than 500 maps, illustrations, and photographs.

Spanker,

There is an US law: Anti Corrupt Practice Act which essentially say that an American company can be prosecuted using US law even when it is operating in a foreign countries. So, since bribing is illegal in USA, American companies cannot legally bribe anyone even in foreign countries. Ditto for racial and age discrimination.

1) American companies

In general, performance is the goal. more flexible on working hours and so on. But, there is NO loyalty between the companies and the employees. If the company has a bad quarter, you may be layoffed. Ditto if the company has a change of strategy.

2) Chinese companies from China.

You have to understand something very simple here. Cost of labor is very low in China and there are plenty of good qualified people in China. So, Chinese from mainland China think that workers are disposable and they are right coming from China. There are substantial fraud in China. So, the company most likely has very strong and strict financial control. In most cases, it is centralized control with most decision come from China.

What kind of company do you consider Solectron to be?? It was founded by Taiwanese and Malaysian in USA. It is registerred as USA company but the founders are Chinese from Taiwan and Malaysia.

3Den,

They do take care of their worker if you are Japanese. Since you are not, you will be always be a second class citizen in Japanese companies.
