Any shcnauzer fans/owner going for the
The Malaysia K9 Day 2007 that will be held on January 14th, 2007 at Central Park, Bandar Utama, Kuala Lumpur
????
do u all do a gathering b4 the event? or something? i need to make up some preparation if do. LOL biggrin.gif
*
There will usually be a good number of MS there as one of the puppy dot com 'kaki' is a huge MS fan
The park gets quite muddy if there's rain the day b4 so you will have to dress accordingly (jeans & sport shoes)
For your furkid a leash, water bottle and some small plastic bags to pick up his pooh.

QUOTE(henggy @ Jan 6 2007, 01:33 AM)
mine just 3 months old.
no MKA...i think got scam jor T.T , those shop ppl say if white M.S its totally white even they puppy... but nvrmind lar...its fate...stuck with him jor...see how it goes when it's shed its fur.
groomer at s'ban T.T not KL .... price diff for sure.
groomer its ok biggrin.gif been raring pups for 10yrs... and when under trainin at japan biggrin.gif
*
MS will never shed their fur. It just gets lighter as they age. I too have a silver MS, she's considearbly 'whiter' now than when she was younger. I've seen a pure white MS once around Damansara (no, not a maltese with a schnauzer cut)
Check your furkid for nicks and cuts after you get her back from the groomer, especially around the ears. Never hurts to be careful.

QUOTE(henggy @ Jan 6 2007, 07:29 PM)
hahahaha.... wat if my pup only got his 2nd armor, havent reach to 3rd armor >.<
darn it.... then i have to go empty handed? sound no interesting at all... hahahahaa....
so u all wanna do a gathering? its start at 8.15am....
wat time wanna meet and should we meet at the entrance... ?

http://www.puppy.com.my/k9day2007/
*
If your furkid hasn't had his/her third shot yet, please don't bring him/her along. With the amount of furkids there, imagine the amount of germs floating around.
Go empty handed if you have to, and go bug all those MS owners for advice.

QUOTE(henggy @ Jan 6 2007, 07:46 PM)
oh ya, wat brand of pet food u all givin to ur terriers or schnauzer?
mine is blackwood 3000, (its seems to be for adults pets but its also can be given to pups tats specially have easilly have skin problems and allergies, and its come with 1 size fits all >.<)
*
Blackwood 3000 i'm not too sure if its for adults or not... but it is generally best not to feed puppies adult food. Different diet requirements. For my two MS, I fed them H&F Solid Gold Lamb n Rice Puppy Formula for the first year or so b4 switching to Eagle Pack Holistic Select varieties. Aside from the initial month or two, they've never had any skin problems (touch wood, touch wood).
Food selection varies from dog to dog, so you might have to experiment. California Natural and Canidae are also supposed to be good, but one of my babies get diarrhea whenever I feed them that. Collect samples from pet stores and try first.
There's something called Novacoat which is a kind of oil which you add into their pellets, helps with flakky skin. Don't overuse as its fattening.

My little devil just 'destroy' a box which we stored Soya Bean drinks during midnight.
Anyhow, she did drink it. But small portion I think. Just want to know is good or bad for dog drink soya bean? AND, any side effect? Because I saw not far away from the 'crime scene' got 2 spots of her yellow bile that she vomitted. I suspect can be due to the paper box she destroyed and eat it, OR the soya bean.

Items to avoid Reasons to avoid
Alcoholic beverages Can cause intoxication, coma, and death.
Baby food Can contain onion powder, which can be toxic to dogs. (Please see onion below.) Can also result in nutritional deficiencies, if fed in large amounts.
Bones from fish, poultry, or other meat sources Can cause obstruction or laceration of the digestive system.
Cat food Generally too high in protein and fats.
Chocolate, coffee, tea, and other caffeine Contain caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can be toxic and affect the heart and nervous systems.
Citrus oil extracts Can cause vomiting.
Fat trimmings Can cause pancreatitis.
Grapes and raisins Contain an unknown toxin, which can damage the kidneys.
Hops Unknown compound causes panting, increased heart rate, elevated temperature, seizures, and death.
Human vitamin supplements containing iron Can damage the lining of the digestive system and be toxic to the other organs including the liver and kidneys.
Large amounts of liver Can cause Vitamin A toxicity, which affects muscles and bones.
Macadamia nuts Contain an unknown toxin, which can affect the digestive and nervous systems and muscle.
Marijuana Can depress the nervous system, cause vomiting, and changes in the heart rate.
Milk and other dairy products Some adult dogs and cats do not have sufficient amounts of the enzyme lactase, which breaks down the lactose in milk. This can result in diarrhea. Lactose-free milk products are available for pets.
Moldy or spoiled food, garbage Can contain multiple toxins causing vomiting and diarrhea and can also affect other organs.
Mushrooms Can contain toxins, which may affect multiple systems in the body, cause shock, and result in death.
Onions and garlic (raw, cooked, or powder) Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause anemia. Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Garlic is less toxic than onions.
Persimmons Seeds can cause intestinal obstruction and enteritis.
Pits from peaches and plums Can cause obstruction of the digestive tract.
Potato, rhubarb, and tomato leaves; potato and tomato stems Contain oxalates, which can affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems. This is more of a problem in livestock.
Raw eggs Contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin). This can lead to skin and hair coat problems. Raw eggs may also contain Salmonella.
Raw fish Can result in a thiamine (a B vitamin) deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death. More common if raw fish is fed regularly.
Salt If eaten in large quantities it may lead to electrolyte imbalances.
String Can become trapped in the digestive system; called a "string foreign body."
Sugary foods Can lead to obesity, dental problems, and possibly diabetes mellitus.
Table scraps (in large amounts) Table scraps are not nutritionally balanced. They should never be more than 10% of the diet. Fat should be trimmed from meat; bones should not be fed.
Tobacco Contains nicotine, which affects the digestive and nervous systems. Can result in rapid heart beat, collapse, coma, and death.
Yeast dough Can expand and produce gas in the digestive system, causing pain and possible rupture of the stomach or intestines.

i oso use cotton bud 1. instructions says do so.

i drip in da lotion, den rub da ears closed..
let them shake shake, oni clean off wif da cotton bud wor.
*
Don't ever use cotton bud. Get the cotton tissue thatt girls use to remove their make up, split into two to make it thinner and then roll into a cylinder. Use this instead, no hard pointy bits.

QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jul 30 2007, 06:45 PM)

okies yes sir!
2day jus used da facial cotton 2 clean their face + ears.
jus tell them wan hair trimmer, den choose da kind which is suitable?
no need got wat specs 1?
*
sweat.gif Actually, unlike other pet stores there'll be only one or two models... beggars cannot be choosers...

QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Jul 31 2007, 07:27 PM)
the groomer here jus trimmed everything off his "gun". he feels uncomfy. very kelian. keep on go lick there..
*
MS look sure botak down there one... cleaner when they pee and poo as well but if your furkid seems uncomfortable with it, tell the groomer to leave a bit lor

QUOTE(Syrian @ Aug 1 2007, 03:37 PM)
huh ?? Help to pull out means pampering him ?? rclxub.gif  I go touch the teeth and it's very very loose ady.

Added on August 1, 2007, 3:41 pmI dun buy rawhides for him one.  I only buy chew sticks and greenies .. datz all
*
As mentioned b4, greenies are BAD. I'm sure they taste pretty good though, my MS boy will 'telan' as much as he can and unfortunately vomit them out later... also choking hazard... sad.gif
As for yellow teeth, I've tried almost everything but nothing seems to work... some of the better vets will do a scaling (much like human dentists) but this i am sure will cost $$$

since you guys are talking about food, unfortunately most brands will contain less than ideal parts...

when my babies were puppies, i had them exclusively eat Hund n Focken Solid Gold puppy, expensive but very good... both had slight skin problems no thanks to the pet shop but got better without medication after i made the switch... but that food mahal lor...
now they are both on eagle pack holistics (i switch flavours every month) and novacoat supplement... works just as well but a lot lot more affordable.

trend LOL! ish that day my bro's friend saw Copper and he act like he know alot about dogs and say Copper's not pure breed >_< sheesh.. cari pasal one that guy D:
*
if the picture in your signature is copper he'd probably got confused with the ears... MS's with upright ears usually get them cropped... very painful, my boy went thru it (didn't know any better back then)... i think he still hates me for it shocking.gif

on a side note, ppl usually don't go for MS with 'mickey mouse' ears, i think that is what ppl around here call it... and any seller who sells an MS without telling their potential owner about this is irresponsible.

I honestly cannot remember how much i got her for... but she had high fever and and cirit birit the first week i got her, sent me into panic mode - i had another MS a bit earlier, but sadly RIP due to parvo from pet store... cry.gif

For dogshows, to standardize the look, all MS must have crop ears.... but naturally MS can have both drop ears and standing ears.... just that the standing ears aren't that attractive.... so that is why the ears are cropped to standardize the look...
*
actually UK and OZ miniature schnauzers cannot have cropped ears if memory serves me right, only the US insists on 'standards'
interestingly, miniature schnauzers one of the most kesian breeds, tail cropped, dew claw removed, ears cropped... google a bit (new owners, crazymouse need not apply) and you will discover that these 'mutilations' once had a purpose... smile.gif

madmoz:hmmm i dont want to crop my pup's ears because i personally think it's a very very painful procedure and i dont want him to go through that~ and by judging it to say whether its a purebreed or not is kinda weird right.. and i think every MS have their own specialty and Copper's mickey mouse ears is making me proud biggrin.gif

*
it IS a very painful procedure. Let me dig up some old photos when i get home from work... i'll post them up...

my boy (the black one) is about 6 kilos and the girl is smaller, about 4-5 kilos. they are both fully grown now. But i've seen much larger MS adults and also much smaller ones, in fact the smallest one i've seen was no bigger than a chihuahua!

Added on August 2, 2007, 12:30 ama westie will surely be bigger than them both!

unless your westie is much smaller than the breed standard she/he will definitely be bigger than my two monkeys. what size 'baju' does she/he wear?

standard weight for Westie dog = 8.5 kg, but then again standard weight for MS dog = 9 kg... but i don't think i've ever seen an 9 kg MS dog or b*tch here in M'sia where the trend is for tiny dogs

waah lilcatty, kaki so putih... mine love splashing in water... yellow already...

From www.petplace.com

Causes in Males

In males, abnormal preputial discharge can result in excessive licking. Preputial discharge is any substance emanating (flowing) from the prepuce (the fold of skin that covers the penis). Preputial discharge may consist of blood, urine or pus. The normal dog should have no discharge; however a small amount of whitish-yellow "smegma" can accumulate around the preputial opening, and is not considered clinically significant.

Causes of excessive discharge include:

Disorders affecting the prepuce, including neoplasia (cancer), trauma, foreign body or balanoposthitis (inflammation of the penis/prepuce)

Disorders of the urethra, including neoplasia, trauma or calculi (stones)

Disorders of the urinary bladder including infection, calculi, inflammation or neoplasia

Disorders of the prostate, including prostatitis (infection or inflammation of the prostate), neoplasia, hyperplasia (enlargement), cyst or abscess

Coagulopathies (bleeding disorders) including thrombocytopenia (decreased platelet count) and ingestion of rat poison

Urinary incontinence (inability to hold urine) secondary to an ectopic (abnormally placed) ureter or improperly functioning sphincter (tissue that acts like a door, controlling the release of urine)

1) because he drools... and when he eats and drinks it gets wet.
there is also a whitening gel to make it less stained. ppl chalk show dogs' beards to make it look white.
2) most likely he smells his pee after he goes. beard touched pee... wah lah. main reason why i've groom them puppy style all the time nowadays.

still, make sure it is not his mouth that stinks - that's tartar or gigi berlubang!
