got .. i bought the cage two days ago.  Hepy didn't bark at all in his cage coz he's used to being in the cage.  The previous owner told me he lock hepy in cage one from day till nite when he's at work.  Today my parents came ady, .. they din say anything coz i said Hepy belongs to my housemate and my housemate went back hometown.  I'm jz helping out to jaga.  They wanted to paly with Hepy too but u noe lar .. Hepy worr .. so timid around strangers one .

Last nite i tried Joanneloidog's method of training (in shihtzu thread).  Wah .. kenot ar.  My Hepy so kolian neh.  He stand there for 2 hours and din pee poo at all until his legs so xuan and he whined.  THen I put him back to cage and went for my midterm exam.  i came back around 9 something and I let him out and put him at tray there.  He stood there by himself and dun dare to move for about 15 minutes like that, then he ran to us crying (barking in high pitch tone) and his face so cham .. wahlau .. I thot wud happened.  I faster carry him up and he was still crying when I carried him up.  I stroke his back.  Then paly with him.  Suddenly he noe the command "come" .. .  I use food to lure him .. LMAO.

Note: I think Hepy thought he kenot pee poo in front of us.  I think he is sked to pee poo in front of us already.  He got the wrong concept that we allow him to pee poo in front of us but not cincai pee poo everywhere.  Now he dun dare to pee poo in front of us ar.  Last nite he laid on the floor while peeing - wahlau - his body all wet and I had to bathed him middle of the nite .  How do I make him regain back his confident to pee poo in front of us ?  Now I dun want to train him pee poo ady but I want him to regain back his confident to pee poo in front of us first .. then only slowly teach him to pee poo at correct place.

if stay at cage, things get worse if he suddenly poo inside the cage.  After he poo there, he sure bark like crazy.  Want ppl to let him out coz he kenot tahan the poo himself .. .  One thing about him is he likes cleanliness but jz now he still dunno where to pee poo.  I'm slowly training him to pee poo now.  Now that he dares to pee poo in front of me again.  Just now after his dinner, I take the tray to living room (near verandah) ... I put him there and I sat there with him.  He dun want to pee or poo.  Then I left him alone there.  Few minutes later, he peed and he came into my room.  I gave him treat.  Then I take him back there again and put him there again.  Same thing and I left him alone and came back to my room.  Few minutes later, he poo there.  I gave him treat and sayang him.  I'll try this method over and over until he knows the tray is for pee poo.  Then I'll only put the tray in my room again.

Sigh.  I kenak complained by housemate liao.  Don't know why Hepy's timidness is getting worse.  This morning I left for exam and my housemate YM my bf said the dog barked so terribly.  Then whine all the way until I came home  .  Why???  Last time he is not like this one.  He's like sked to be left alone.  I got on music and put one of shirt for him to keep him accompany with all his toys and bones, etc with him in my room.  I didn't even lock him in cage or put in playpen.  I let him roam free in my room when I'm not around.  But still, he whined and barked loud loud.  Now is my housemate complain only.  So sked neighbour complain.  *Sigh*.  Then i tried jz now - leave him alone in room and close the door again.  I went to living room ... he din bark or whine coz i think he noes im' at home and if he barks when I'm around, he'll kenak!!

nezu, i tried out joannelooidog's method and it worked alright.  This morning i fed him at 730 am .. then at 8 am, i took him to the newspaper and ask him to pee/poo.  30 min later, he din pee/poo at all and I asked him to come and i played with him for about 30 minutes.  Then I taught him some commands and gave him treats.  After treats, I asked him to drink some water.  Then 15 min later, i brought him to the newspaper again and he stood there for about 15 min and then he peed.  I praised him and gave him treats.  Then 15 minutes later, i brgought him to the newspaper again and he pooped.  And I praised him again and gave him treats.  I will repeat this method everyday until he gets it.

i took him for his first grooming at shop coz I dunno how to groom lor.  I wanna see after they groom, how does it look like so i'll roughly get an idea.  I will buy the shaver when his hair grow longer and I'll groom myself.
