Let's ust say that BitDefender is more blotted that Kaspersky, yeah? If you consider Kaspersky to big a RAM hogger, regret it when you get Norton, unless they have improved in the latest version. From my experience, BitDefender is NOT number 1. It is very disappointing as it's scan speeds are way slower than Kaspersky. Cheers!

If we're talking Internet Security suites, what do you expect? One .exe to run all the separate applications?

FACT: Kaspersky's detection methods lose out to bitdefender's hive system. Kaspersky does scan faster. That's it though. Both are good antivirus and better than most out there. Norton Security Suite? Real resource heavy. If you think bitdefender kills you, you'll die with norton.

I've tested about 9 full versions of anti-virus and Internet Security suites in the last week or so. From Symantec Corporate, to Kaspersky 6 to Bitdefender v10. BD does it best. But I'm talking antivirus. If you want the best Internet Security Suite, go for Zone Labs. None are going to be super light though so remember that. Antivirus, it's bitdefender and kaspersky. Spyware, it's Spy Sweeper and Spy Doctor.

Fierce you are refnulf, LOL. Now, let me clarify this. I am talking about AVs, NOT Internet Suites. I never had any faith in them. That is why I "study" combos.

You mentioned about BitDefender's Hive System and Kaspersky's whatsoever System. I highly disagree. My rig has an equal balance of documents, data files, mp3s, compressed files, dll's and so on and so forth. I DON'T test them on only ONE file type. I make it almost the same. Unfortunately, Kaspersky v5.xx.xx took 0.5 Hours for 80 GB worth, BitDefender 9 Standard took 2 HOURS. This is not what I call "standard" scanning time. It is very disappointing. I always had some faith in BitDefender, but they really disappointed me.

Considering the fact that Spyware/Adware/Malware/all that jazz is on the rise(not recently though), We need Mulitple Complementary AntiMalware Programs. Depending on Webroot's Spysweeter and (whatever company, I can;t remember, LOL) Spy Doctor is not enough. Fine, I give credit for Spy Sweeper's RTM (Real Time Monitoring) Scanning Function. But then, you telling me that FREE versions of Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware can;t make the mark? You telling me that prevention programs like SpywareBlaster does not play a role? I really need to ask you to reconsider these possibilities.

Anyway, I don't exactly like to argue here(am I? LOL). If I oversaid anything, my apologies. Cheers!

No, I agree with you regarding the scan speeds. Bitdefender is a little disappointing when it comes to that. But it still scans better (it should for all the extra time it takes).
But again, I have no idea why your scan took so long. My 80gb + external 100gb + external 100gb took about 1.05 hours to complete (deep scan).

Now, for spyware. I have already told you that I've tried spybot, and I have tried ad-aware and they're all great. But they still don't clear the stuff that's found by spy sweeper and spyware doctor. Unfortunately, I tried the free way first before having to test paid softwares and they still came out tops.

When I try all the free ones and they find nothing. And then I try Spy Sweeper and Spyware Doctor and they do find something. Obviously the previous 2 isn't doing a good enough job yes?

So IMO, I went with that. Now, I'm not saying it's completely useless. Spybot and ad-aware did find most of the stuff around, but it failed to find a couple that was found by the other two. So that's all I'm saying here.
