protagonists are twins named Yuri and Chierinka
* There are four races, the story takes place in Ivalice
* The game will support up to 4 players over Wi-Fi, one player must be selected as the leader
* The battles will be in 3D; the level of the fields and position of the character affects the battles
* Player has slight advantage standing in higher ground
* There are new jump commands, in addition to magic and attack
* The theme of them game is Family and Fraternal Love
* Crystals will not be in the game
* The game is directed by Mitsuru Kamiyama who worked on FFCC for GameCube
* Character designs is handled by Toshiyuki Itahana (FFCC, Chocobo's Dungeon 2)
* The development is 60% completed
got it go-nintendo.com from the response of the FFCC...

dont know about the new game. But ill give some cliff notes about the bucket.
1) World covered in poison fog (like KL)
2) Annual run to get holy water in a bucket
3) Bucket protects you out in the world
4) holy water cleans crystal that create shiny fog shield for 1 more year
IN-GAME MECHANICS:
The bucket serves as the focal point in the battle areas. The camera always fixes on the buckets. The carrier essentially is the leader of the group. where he goes, you go. if you ignore the leader, you lose health at first, then you are out of the camera view so you cant really do much anyways but run back to the bucket.
Some game creatures can knock the bucket around and shift the camera angle into awkward positions, so its always good to guard it. In the end, the point was to keep all 4 players on the same TV screen.
I think the DS version won't need a bucket because each DS has its own screen to view the action. No more "cheap plot point to avoid split screen" is needed anymore.
