I am planning to let my kids have their own room, cos they are almost 7 years old already.

Am planning to buy a double decker bed and a study desk to put in the room..

Can I know how you decorate your child's room??

PS: My 2 Irish twins are boys.

Perhaps you want to pay a visit to Ikea as they have so many ideas that could be adopted for your sons room. Or obtain their product catalog for obtaining ideas

Just a question here...why arent you setting up 2 rooms, instead of one...soon they would be asking for separate room anyways.

Yeah.. thanks 4 asking.. now d plan is to install an aircon in d storeroom and convert 2 another bedroom for 1 of d boys.

will move in d single wooden old bed of my hubby's which is currently at my in-laws' place.. and use d mattress which my hubby is sleeping on d floor now.. then i can save d $.. no need to buy beds.. cos d other room which was meant 2 be their bedroom already has a queen sized bed with tilam of cos. My master bedroom bed is king-sized.

may have to buy 1 more wardrobe and 2 more study desks.. see how it goes.

or else get them to use d round ikea study desk we already have in d living room.. and share d other study desk (plan to get a rectangular one) in d queen sized bedroom.

i would suggest super single for both room, its better to invest now, sooner or later, they are gonna complain single bed is small, as they grow into teen.

I preferred wooden type, so got them wooden supersingle with a wardrobe. I didnt setup study table in the room, because we wanted visibility, hence they study at dining and their notebook is placed there as well

I don't intend 2 buy them note book or iPad.. they will have 2 make do w d old PC @ d living room. Plan 2 teach them d value of quiet study time, hence will get them at least 1 more study desk.

As for decoration, you may have a theme based on their favourite cartoon/character.
Get some nice wall stickers and their favourite cartoon bedsheet.

My 8 years old son's bedroom have the following, for your reference:
- Queen bed + cupboard (the normal kind of set)
- a bedside small table (suppose for alarm clock, photo frame with his photo)
- kids writing table with chair (got this when he was 4yrs old.. kind of waste space and stuck there no longer use; he is doing his studies at our dining table)
- bookshelf (for story books collection)
- bookshelf (for school books and reference books)
- 4-level plastic drawers (for all his toys -- all dumb inside -- a mess)
- special space to display his toys (boys .. ugh!)

* not to forget a reachable place to hang their clothing (such as weared jeans that is not for laundry yet, etc)

And not sure if your boys need night light.

As my son move to his own room at age 5. What we practice since then was he sleep on his own with bright light. And about 10minutes I will get into his room to switch the light off, leaving a night light, then lock the bedroom door (from inside.. knob type).
