there are some discussion in the neighbor thread about how Chelsea spent the money recently and previously under Roman era, and even a few season before that.

I can simplify the discussion into three phases of spending for us.

Before Roman - we attracted and signed big faded european stars.

Pre Roman - we signed players without even thinking of the future, all was straight about quality and yes the investment made by Roman significantly helped in the recruitment process. We did the recruitment process in just one season hinting on our spending power.

Recently - Bruce Buck spearhead the campaign on self sustainable Chelsea, and Roman demand us to obey the FFP, indicating the end of Pre-Roman era when we can sign anyone we want (almost...). This started with the signing of Ramires, it took us 4 years to re-do the squad..compared to the Pre-Roman era where we can do it in just one season. We also changed the policy from experienced quality to prospect quality ie Hazard, Oscar, Azpi

regarding Roman dodgy business, it is not something new..everything available on the net..to put this into perspective, the fall of USSR opened up a huge gap in society where opportunistic people like Roman rose to power..mostly through a shady business..what do you expect from a politician plus businessman..hahaha but he did invest a lot in his area and his club.

my point is, we are aware of the situation..but as a fan, this will never stop us from supporting the club. the fact is, so far he did invest a lot, he did turned his investment (debt) into equity, he is supporting us and want the club to keep on winning, he is by far the best owner of football club in PL.

his situation now like in a restaurant business, he will keep on investing to help the float and achieve club self sustain..it is a long term business..but we are on the verge of doing that in a few season. after that he can take the profict, but i doubt that he will do that..I bet all the money will be straight back to strengthen the squad.

it is a give and take, where he provide us financially..and we provide him with visibility and avoid threat from Putin.
