How come mine 1520 havent receive any update from insider?
*
Try re-enroll in the insider app. Then insider app will reboot your phone to initiate the updating process. 1st time will be to WP8.1 Update 2. Then wait for another update prompt to go W10 TC.

Keep in mind this is a very alpha stage of W10, not suitable for daily use with known issues already published. The only way to go back to WP8.1 is to use the Windows Recovery Tool.

congrats on new thread!

anyway anyone willing to share some known issues of WP10 TP on this phone? i've seen a screenshot from a friend using the slide down screen. having more options for quick enabling and disabling looks so cool. haven't have time to try it out myself yet  drool.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*
For a list of known issues read this Windows Blog

Please do not install this TC for fun & on your ONLY phone. It's buggy, incomplete & will crash often. If you're fine with that then go ahead smile.gif

QUOTE(KayK @ Apr 13 2015, 11:04 AM)
i also planing to do that...
just want the update 2...
installed W10 for phones in my trusty 920, but notice a few "phone breaking" bugs...
*
Keep in mind if do this your phone update will be stuck waiting for u to install the TC, u won't get any further update prompts. Uninstalling Insider app won't fix it, only way is hard reset your phone.

the biggest dislike on the w10 os would be the un-pinable IE page onto the home screen...  doh.gif
*
The point of the technical preview is for you to try it out, then provide feedback on things you like/dislike. There's a shortcut to provide feedback built in. If you not interested in doing so, then not a good idea to install the TP. Remember this is pre alpha code, very buggy & UI wise not consistent or finalized.

QUOTE(sklchan @ Apr 19 2015, 12:31 AM)
The TP simply not impressive at all, if the intention of the TP is to promote the goodness of Windows 10 then I can said it's a total failure... doh.gif

Just wonder what all their designer doing all these time... shakehead.gif
*
Technical Preview is not meant to promote goodness of Windows 10, please please do not get this wrong. At this stage it's solely meant for testing/feedback. Nothing is final expecially UI wise, besides they are not focusing on UI also now.

QUOTE(fantasy1989 @ Apr 19 2015, 12:40 AM)
from my point of view

TP is not for customer ...TP is for developer

everything is not final yet ...
until they release "customer" preview then only it consider final design of the UI  smile.gif

but based on current trend ..i believe that UI design for windows 10 should be close to final

i think 1 to 1 and half month they will release CP
*
Yeap correct thumbup.gif

QUOTE(sklchan @ Apr 20 2015, 01:35 AM)
Just got everyone information, if you want the 8.1 GDR Update 2, go to Windows insider enable the fast ring then go and check for Phone Update then you will get it... Afterward disable the auto download so you won't be force to update to Windows 10 TP... for me I'll stop after the GDR2 until the official Windows 10 stable release as can see the GDR2 seem like the final golden touch from Nokia legacy where it's still very usable and rock solid stable rather then the TP joker... LOL
*
As I've mentioned before doing this will put your phone on waiting to update to Windows 10 TP, with no way of cancelling it or getting any other official updates later. Only way out is hard reset.

Anyway WP8.1 GDR2 is confirmed will be installed as staging update before W10 TP.

LOL... do you really thinking there's anymore delicious update if it's not the official Windows 10? then do you think the 8.1 to 10 really will going smooth without any hard reset? the GDR 2 is beautiful and can be said it completed the WP8.1 overall performance and reliability...  thumbup.gif
*
Dude, you don't get it, if u do that u won't even get the official Windows 10 update down the road. This is something u need to inform normal ppl before u tell them to update this way, else later they complain what are u going to tell them?

Yes WP8.1 GDR2 is probably the best & most polish one but this is not the official way of getting it. I've seen way too many ppl who jump into W10 TP without realizing the consequences, only to complain so much now. So I always warn ppl now what happens if u choose that way.

By the way, I'm enjoying WP8.1 GDR2 on my Lumia 535, can finally connect BT keyboards to type with that rclxms.gif

When the official windows 10 arrive will do an overall firmware update through the recovery tools... used it few days back and it's plain straight forward...  thumbup.gif
*
Yes it's plain straight forward for us more knowledgeable ppl but not those no idea still wanna try for fun ppl tongue.gif

This is very important since WP8.1 backup still don't save app data. doh.gif

QUOTE(jkwanness @ Jul 6 2015, 11:20 AM)
I love my Lumia.... Great phone with minimal issues.... Main issue is the lack of proper app support!!!!!!! Garhhh...

Now I'm forced to get an android because of the lack of apps and updates... But looking at G4 and S6, only now they get features such as double tap , wireless charging? Who cares about fast charging when my Lumia lasts as whole day plus more...

The only advantages s6 and g4 has is a better camera, and a smaller profile. Ya 1520 a bit too big for my pockets...

Really disappointed in the android market now in terms of hardware features... Come on, our lumias is 2 years old but still on par!

If only app developers treat windows app the same... Sigh...
*
Yo! From Sandakan ah bro? Like very hard to find Lumia users in Sabah hahaha. Anyway I agree on your points, 1520 almost 2 years old & have all those stuff Android & iPhone only catching up to now. Sadly Microsoft haven't innovated since then so rest of market is now caught up. Hope they really innovate again with the new upcoming phones

QUOTE(fantasy1989 @ Jul 6 2015, 11:24 AM)
let's see whether xaramin and universal apps can narrow down apps gap or not
*
From what I've heard, Android app devs don't give a crap bout it. Have to wait & see lah.

yup orang sabah!!! but not staying in sabah already hahaha... Guess we'll have to see if windows 10 will attract any developers... sad.gif

Sadly with today news on the restructuring of phone division in Microsoft, haters gonna use this as reason why they shouldn't bother with Windows app development. But honestly I was hoping Microsoft will clamp down on the crazy number of phones they release also in a year, way too many, so many like not much distinct differences from one another in the low to medium end till confused ppl.

QUOTE(fantasy1989 @ Jul 7 2015, 02:12 PM)
because they havent really try out the xaramin yet

and xaramin native API framework only covered quite basic stuff and it's not full range

for simple apps maybe can use this ..but for complex application i believe xaramin still need to pay more effort on it
*
Ya, Xaramin that was shown in BUILD was basic stuff, they still working on it. By the time Windows 10 for mobile ships it should be much better. Unfortunately not sure if anyone gonna be interested anymore by then after today news.

QUOTE(Tuyin @ Jul 7 2015, 05:58 PM)
After trying Windows 10 Mobile for 2 weeks on my back up phone (L1520), decided it was too buggy.

Rolled back to WP8.1 and sadly the trick to update to wp8.1.2 is no longer working.

I guess have to wait for the official update
*
I have W10 running on my L535, pretty stable this build but ya, don't use it as daily driver. Yes the trick to update to WP8.1 Update 2 is gone, this is because of ppl being idiots complaining bout not able to get W10 when they enroll in Windows Insider. So Microsoft decided to skip that prerequisite in the latest W10 build.

Install English (USA) language, set as default for phone then set your phone region to USA. I've been using Cortana like this since W8.1

*
Bro, WP10 Mobile has been officially out for Lumia 1520 for over a month. U have to go download an app from Store called Upgrade Advisor to enable the upgrade.

Good Day Fellow Forumers,

1. I've Some Questions Or Issues Regarding Lumia 1520. I'm Unable To Update My Phone Software To Windows 10.

2. Downloaded The App Called "Upgrade Advisor". Run It, and Was Told There's An Update From Windows 8.1 Which Needs To Be Installed. Hence, Unable To Further Carry On With The Updates.

3. Check The Date And Time As Stated From Google Or Other Forums, Doesn't Seem To Help, Soft Reset The Phone, Also Doesn't Seem To Be Helping As Well.. Region Wise.. I'm Currently At Overseas, Not At Malaysia, Does It Even Effect The Issue ?

4. Purchased The Phone From Nokia Center Through My Friend At Kota Kinabalu, Sabah..

5. Thanks, Looking Forward To Replies.

Hi there,

Never ran into such a problem before with any of the Lumia I've tested. Though I've moved on to Android, I still use my Lumia 1520 as backup phone & it's updated with no issue. So there's no pending update that failed to install when u check for updates? Region doesn't affect the update.

If all else fails you probably have to hard reset your phone with this tool: Windows Device Recovery Tool

Good luck!

Anyone here know how to fix Lumia 1520 screen lifting issue? do i have to change my LCD or is there an easier fix ?
*
Screen lifting? As part of the screen is raised above the phone? I had this issue & it was caused by battery started to bulge so only fix was change the battery.
