Hi, I am total noob in photography. Recently purchased a Samsung NX3300.
Can't get the .srw file into my adobe lightroom.
Have tried using Adobe DNG converter but cannot detect my RAW files.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. cry.gif
I don't even know what I don't know rclxub.gif
Need all advice and help I can get from here.

You do realise nx model comes bundled with adobe lightroom.

To TS, have you tried importing the srw photos first? To some newbies they try to open raw file like they open jpeg in paint.

I've tried importing into lightroom (that's correct right?) but nothing happens. cannot detect the srw. tried converting dng and then import into lightroom also cannot.

my nx comes with a samsung i-launcher. has its own RAW converter and DNG converter.
it has a pc auto backup which.. i dunno why cannot doesn't even work. can't even install properly. sweat.gif
the RAW converter i dunno how to use, need more time to play around that.

As for the built-in DNG converter, i try using that to convert the srw to dng but my output folder looks empty eventhough the computer detected some dngs inside. hmm.gif

honestly, i'm so confused right now. feel totally wan to give up and just tweak the jpegs.

First of all dont use any converters and then answer few questions:

1) Have you tried to copy and paste the SRW files directly from the camera directory to pc instead of relying on adobe to extract from your sd card? And then try import through the pc directory.

2) Are you sure you have set the camera mode to RAW in settings.

3) Try setting the camera to take both JPEG and RAW. Are you able to see JPEG in Adobe but still cannot see SRW files?

4) Are you using adobe lightroom bundled with the camera?

Hmmm maybe to do with adobe color vs sRGB setting. Have to check. For now try download sample of srw online, try dpreview and check nx raw photo samples and check if its your pc or adobe problem.

The reason i mention abode bundled because older version of adobe may not recognize srw format.

If you can see jpeg and raw in camera then most likely its not srw file problem. Perhaps adobe does not recognize the file due to version or setting used.

Update: if you use lightroom v 3.2 below, most likely it does not recognize srw files. Check ur lightroom version and try update to latest version.

Hi. So just now I tried reinstalling the built in DNG converter and it works this time! doh.gif
Last few times, not sure what went wrong. This time it installed into my PC.
Finally can use it to convert the srw files to dng and then import into lightroom. works fine now.

Thanks for your time in replying/helping me. I really appreciate it. Not so much on my Samsung camera now. sot sot one. sweat.gif

From the link, the ACR does not show it support NX3300 at the moment, that is what I wanna tell
LR using ACR engine (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/supported-file-formats.html), as u can see, it referring to the same page when u check the camera raw format
If you want to use LR to import NX3300 raw directly, you may need to wait for the update of LR
It should be coming out very soon

This is exactly same as my case last year when I got my Nikon D750
Workaround always will be using the home brand software to read the raw file, in my case Nikon viewernx

When i meant bundled i meant software that comes with the device usually is already compatible from the start. If not mistaken lightroom bundled is v5 so shouldnt have any issue to view srw. I initially thought perhaps TS is using old version pre installed in his pc thus the version query.

Yes, I do agree you that software that come with the camera should be able to read the raw file.

But at the moment, LR still not yet support the NX3300 camera raw file, if they support, they will show the camera model at the link

Actually not only LR, but if you using Aperture or Capture one, you still need to wait they release the update of their software of support the new camera raw file

My experience of my nikon D750 last year, although I got this camera already, but I dare not to use it to shoot wedding assignment (I am wedding photographer), this is because I shoot raw and each assignment will have few thousand photos
That time LR, Aperture and Capture one all also not yet support the raw file
If I use Nikon software to edit the raw file, I will die
If I convert the photo to jpg, then import to these software, then edit, I loss the flexibility of editing the photo
There is some workaround at that time as using a tools to convert it to dng file, then import to LR, but, too time consuming
I rather keep the camera for leisure purpose until those software support the raw file

After one or two months, yes, all these software start to support it, I just need to go to their website download the update, then install to my computer, and I am able to import the raw directly already.
