Getting Started

|
Folks, need some advice here. I have an Canon S100 camera and have been using it for close to 2 years. Last week when I power on the camera, it gave me an error message :
Lens Error Will shutdown automatically Restart camera
I sent it to KLCC Canon center and they quoted whopping RM600 to repair it ! And I bought the camera for RM1,000. When I told the person that I am shocked at such a repair price and not willing to pay that much, the person then recommended me to buy the newer S200 model !
Anyway I'd appreciate some advice on how else I can salvage the camera without having to pay a hefty sum.
And no I did not dropped it or knocked it against something.

Google around Mayb your serial number is under the "bad" batch, which is under their don't know what program where you can send your unit to replace the sensor for free(even after warranty)

QUOTE(zzzxtreme @ Apr 10 2015, 04:49 PM) i wonder if that canon centre KLCC is the same as sending directly to the REAL canon service centre ? The official Canon Service Center is in Peremba Square. If your unit is part of the "bad" batch [ The first and second digits of the camera’s serial number are any number from"29" through"41."], you can bring it in for check and they "probably" can repair for free Link: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/cons...901e024805ab992This post has been edited by ronnie: Apr 23 2015, 10:09 AM
