Hi guys, I wanna ask something. I just got news that my convocation will be delayed to next year.
So I just can take the transcript and need to wait for Official Certificate next year.

The question is the companies out there can accept the Transcript when applying a job or not? smile.gif
Or they want the official Certificate. hmm.gif

I ask my senior about this thing, he said some companies doesn't accept the transcript. They need the official certificate. Is this true? blink.gif

Get a letter confirming your eligibility for graduation from your uni office.

personally I think it is fine. but depends of the HR of that company.

usually SME companies have no issue with transcript.

Yep. I applied for job before my graduation using my official transcript

Ask your uni to prepare a letter for you, stating that you have graduated (unofficial) and has completed all prerequisites for you to graduate officially.

Transcript is acceptable. However, it is advisable that you reason with the interviewer.

If the interviewer needs reasoning for a simple case like this, take it from me, that you do not want to work there.

There's nothing wrong for asking. It could be a test for the candidate on how he/she would reply if being asked.

Technically you still haven't graduated. There are companies that will blacklist you if you apply and then get and offer and then you can't produce your degree certificate. And you know how fast things spreads in HR. Everyone knows everyone else.

The problem is the university suddenly gave news that they will delayed the convo next year.

We also feel angry with this news. It's not that we purposely don't want to give the official certificate

Then you apply as not graduated student. You can not put your graduation date as 2015 when you haven't graduate yet. You out expecting to graduate in 2016 on your resume.

HR is a very tough job with not a lot of prospects and pay that is not fair for the amount of work they handle. That is why you see hr often change staff very often and senior hr all become recruiter. As a result of that, they are very well connected. It's very fine if you're not successful in one interview or application, but all you need is one incident like kena fired, dishonesty, disciplinary action and you bet whoever you apply next someone is bound to find out.

Scenario A:
Manager: We are please to hire you. Here is your employment contract. Please returned a signed copy along with your supporting documents to HR.
You: What document do you need?
M:Copy of IC, Degree, etc...
Y:But I don't have my degree yet, do you mind if I give you a transcript instead?
M:What do you mean by that?
Y: Yada yada
M:But you stated in your resume that you've already graduated
Y:Yada yada
M:.....

Scenario B:
M: It shows here that you're expecting yo graduate next year but it's already 3 years since you started your degree.
Y: Actually I've already completed all my courses. However the university yada yada
M: Ah I see. That is fine. Could you provide us with something that shows you've completed all the requirements to graduate.
Y: Yes sure. Will yada yada be ok?
M: Great. Welcome aboard.

Which is better?
