KSP 1.0 just got released. They increased the price to RM 75. It was RM56 if I'm not mistaken.

Bethesda has now confirmed the revenue sharing setup: Valve gets a 30 percent, Bethesda gets 45 percent, and modders get the remaining 25 percent.

So now we know that valve sit there do nothing can get 30%?
I feel that suppose they should give modders 65%, valve 10%, Bethesda 25 %.
I can't believe valve dare to take more than modders in this part.

Google adsense give publisher 68% while they take 32%, google also host the server, control the traffic, manage the account.

You feel that modders get 25% fair?
valve get more than modders?

who do the work, who add the code, art, animation, who test the mod?
How about next time valve get 75% for each game sold, developer only get 25% seem that you say who host, control traffic and manage account.

steam 30%, investing risk close to highest (administration, management, marketing, advertisement, etc)

publisher 45%, investing risk highest (likewise above, more cost)

modder 25%, investing risk (I dont see anything higher than publishing and management)

and don't compare to google who runs an entirely different infrastructure and market.

What i disagree is you stating - "valve sit there do nothing can get 30%".
Who setup the accounts? Bankers.
Who communicate with the bankers? Valve.
Who manage the account and provide the modders a platform to do "free advertising"? Valve
How many modder actually pay to do advertisement by themself? Not many; indeed, I would like to know how many do?

QUOTE

Fair. Nice word - fair. What is the ratio of the number of executives, or employees, of Valve who are involved with each respective projects between the, individual, modders'?

QUOTE

Who do the work? The modders.
How many modders are involved in a mod, or project, generally? Not many.
How much cut are the modders each shared? Depending, but generally, a lot.
Now, who provides the tools, and the game itself, for the modders to mod? The publisher.
Who communicate and handle the resources between the publisher and the modders? Valve.
How many people are involved dealing with the management? A lot.
What is the chance of one administrator dealing with ten or more modders? Most likely over 0.8.
How many work does the administrator has to deal with? Believe me, if you have ever worked as an administrator, it is not easy. Indeed, no job is easy.
Who pay the management office? Valve.

Allow me to entertain you. The financial and marketing team of steam won't be that stupid to go overboard. Getting 75% cut from the gross profit as a intermediary company is an act of suicide, unless the cost of the course plan is over 60% from the net profit.
Developers or publishers always get higher cut from the net profit unless they relies rely heavily on the intermediaries.

So please entertain me how unreasonable is Valve getting a cut of 30% for "doing nothing"?

valve setup all of the thing is for selling game. This add on part for modder do n ot cost them a lot.
They not even do the testing for the mod can work well or not, so max they can get 10%.
Modder are the one keep bringing the game for long live. They worth more than valve in this part.
If you want to compare number of employee, google and other even more, they give the "main actor" more than that.
No point now as valve already take it down. IF all of this fair and no problem, people will not complain so much until they decide to take down. They even say they may adjust it to other percentages. If they feel that currently is fair enough, they will not say like that.
Even in card steam market trading, they not dare to take that much. That one they provide platform, system and monitoring, provide the tools for developer to come out their own card. This one if they take more, is still ok because they do a lot of thing and also they are the one bring the idea but for mod, they do not much.
Nexus are the one setup just for mod should get some money to maintain their site, hosting and others....
