Personally this is the sweet spot laptop for me.

If i want performance, will go back to PC. Tablet is bit too small/slow for me

Pricing is the main issue here, based on internal news seems like Apple will charge USD250 for CPU upgrade to 5Y71 1.3GHz which is pure profit for Apple as Intel charges the same price for all Core M

Still dilemma whether want to take any upgrade from base model...

benchmark itself cant really tell the whole story. Anandtech already review on Core M, temperature and OEM play an important role on Core M performance.

For example, the 1.1Ghz might have higher performance than 1.2Ghz model if the 1.1Ghz run in cold weather (like snow) and the 1.2Ghz in hot weather (malaysia anyone?). Another thing to consider is if the Macbook already running worm before benchmark? If so then the score will be lower due to the same thermal reason.

unless there is a 2 system running in exact condition, it is still hard to judge for now if it is worth it (RM810 for the upgrade). I am waiting for Anandtech for Macbook review based on 2 models before i pull the trigger

Ya, quite disappointed on the review, missed out most important questions.

1. Like how is it 1.1GHz compared with 1.3GHz (performance, battery life etc)
2. How if compared to 2015 model (mostly in review are 2014 and older)
3. SSD compared with PCIe SSD in 2015 model

rMBP 2.9 CPU (5469)



The GOLD color MB is so attractive...

the Geekbench 32bit OSX run result seems a bit wider range. If taking 64bit as a reference:

1.1GHz SC ~2400; MC ~4600
1.2GHz SC ~2550; MC ~5200
1.3GHz SC ~2800; MC ~5500

2.7GHz rMBP SC ~3200; MC ~6900
2.9GHz rMBP SC ~3400; MC ~7200
2.2GHz MBA SC ~3150; MC ~6700


For the battery size of 39.7Whr, and 50% lighter than rMBP, not bad at all
Single-core score wasnt so bad at all for 1.3GHz model.

I think is due to the scaling thing, even rMBP also lag

More likely software problem than hardware limitation

Might as well get the cheapest MBA
