maybank amex sucks...

Tried to buy via amazon via amex card... get rejected by maybank.

Call support and was told due to security, maybank block it.

Was told once transaction fail, need to call them to enable it.

was told that the online transaction was enable for 24 hours... tried to pay again via amex.... BUT it fail again....

Piss up with it and use back my citibank master. transaction was done immediately.

next is try to buy thing via lazada, was link to paypal instead!

Have you bought anything from amazon b4? FYI, no CVV ask.

I have done >30 transactions on amazon b4.

I used to buy from Amazon every month. All CC stored in Amazon website. So I can't remember whether I need to key in CVV or not. All this while No problem for me To use AMEX on Amazon

Why I ask about the CVV due to AMEX cc is in front unlike Visa/master CVV at back of the card. So first time AMEX sometime won't realize this

FYI no ccv asking in amazon.

Yes, I am aware of CVV amex is at the front. When register via pal pal, they will ask for this.

As I was told by support, maybank block the transaction. They enable it but still cannot use. bad bad bad maybank

if u find it inconvenient u can stop using it.

a year or two back, Amex was an easy target for fraud cases and many members here including me had got unknown transactions cancelled by maybank due to fraud
and they have improved the security by imposing a block to all online transactions particularly those that originates in the U.S. you'll have to call each time to unblock the transaction for security reason.

That is my point, foreign bank usually does it better. My past experience, TT to maybank b4, need to call KL main HQ to release the money. $ stuck there for 1 week!

Imagine if there are few billion and billion of transaction per min. Our $ hold there...

Found out there local lazada also do not accept Amex payment, it only accept via paypal. lazada Singapore do accept by the way.

Imagine if you purchase via amazon. Need to wait 1/2 day to know that maybank reject it. when you discover that, you call maybank to activate it. after that wait 1/2 day and know it cannot work. and it slipped your delivery timeline.

For fraud case, there will always be an sms notification on any online transaction. when we know that there is a fraud transaction, we can call bank to void the xfer (I know that there are some fraud sms too)

The point is local bank is still not efficient at all...

otherwise you may try to call to inform/activate/unblock before each purchase.

I tried before and the CS told me they can only unblock only if transaction is performed otherwise they have nothing to "un-do" in their system.

Yes, it does. I managed to pay Astro via M2U Amex despite Astro CS informed that don't accept payment by Amex.

I also managed to pay Maxis Mobile via M2U Amex today.

CVV at front? u mean the 4 digit number in WHITE? not the 3 digit number at back??

My experience yesterday :

purchase at Blizzard store, reject twice

call the toll free number at page #1, immediate answer. Give card number, name & phone number. he ask few questions : like where u shopped ur grocery recently, or where u pump petrol

after few mins wait, say onblocked but need to perform transaction after 15 mins.

wait 15 mins, checkout again, success. using 3 digit number at back of card as CVV.

I agree with Ree73. Doing online foreign transactions with this card is such a hassle.

1. You cannot call ahead and say "I will make an online transaction, please unblock my card".
2. If you do payments with PayPal, once the card is rejected PayPal will "hide" the card. So after calling Maybank you will have to login again into PayPal to see the card again.
3. They might unblock the wrong merchant. Happened to me once. Payment blocked -> call Maybank, unblocked -> payment blocked again -> call again, asked why it failed again and they said "sorry, there is another layer that we have to unblock".

I understand that it is for security reasons. But this "solution" comes at a severe cost.

hmmm that's strange. i only did it the first time where i have to make a purchase 1st for maybank to unblock. subsequent times, i just ask maybank to unblock my card for 24 hours/1 week to do online transactions
