Tried selecting the network manually via the modem settings, doesn't seem to work either.

The good thing about U Mobile is they never step down from a challenge, when a competitor announces something good, U Mobile replies really fast keeping the telco war alive.

But don't forget U Mobile started offering value for money plans with decent amount of data, this prompted the whole telco war thing.
