Switch to postpaid U28, 3GB data (claimed is all day 3GB), 50min talk time.
Waiting sim card to be activated.
Penang area, no 4G, hope that 3G is not disappoint.

Nano sim charge RM10.30

Asking for Digi and Celcom as well, but their budget promotional package all are ended.
All need to sign contract for at least 1 year.

But this U28 surprisingly no contract needed.

As request, tested the U28 package at Penang Island, Relau area, one of the most crowded living area with many apartments and flats.
Penang is still limited with 3G/H+ speed only.

At some Relau area where signal is just moderate strong, the speed is as below.
Considered not bad as previously Maxis has very bad 3G coverage at this area (which cannot even send out chatting message, but Maxis neglect this issue by 4G coverage)

At the area with strong signal, almost full bar H+, the result is as below.
Consider this is pretty good on a H+ signal.

The data balance check do indicate real 3GB data usage.

Has also make the 1st phone call. Call quality is very clear and loud.

Has actually also tested at Penang Island, Bayan Lepas FTZ industrial area, the signal is very weak at most of the spot, only able to get "E" signal inside the building, and moderate "H" signal.
But, other telco signal also perform very poor at that area, so it is not a surprise, anyway.

1st impression on U Mobile U28 at Penang area: consider good, comparable to other telco coverage, just lacking the 4G coverage.

Eh I thought penang most town area already cover with 4g by big 4?

Maxis lead the 4G network at Penang (cover almost whole Penang), even prepaid service getting the same 4G, follow closely by Celcom and Digi.
U Mobile don't has 4G coverage at Penang.

The speed test above actually is tested at area which covered 4G network by Maxis and Digi.
The test is carried out on a 4G phone, which previously enjoying fast 4G internet at these area.

Now it is limited just 3G.

Now testing at Penang island, Bayan Lepas area, FTZ industrial zone (Phase 4 area, nearing Batu Maung).
At dark zone, only able to get "Edge" signal inside the building, and very week 3G signal outside building.

The "Edge" speed is quite stable.
Still manage to use Whatapps and WeChat, but Facebook take minutes to load.

I want to port from maxis to umobile, will get it done at umobile times square. A few questions to ask,

1. for nano sim, umobile charge for it ?
2. opt for e-billing, umobile charge for itemized billing ? (maxis waived if opt for e-billing)
3. P50 or P70 more worth?
4. can disable voice mailbox during registration ?

Nano sim charge for RM10.60. (6% GST included)
Need to pay direct on registration time.

Micro sim is free of charge.

as i know some dealer cut the micro sim to nano sim size for you.
for the service center, they provide the original nano sim, which chargeable. I walked in to Berjaya Times Square, they told the nano sim is chargeable.
*
Ya... But I has been warned by some seller where cutting from normal to micro or nano sim may cause some sim card unable to use.
So, I done it as a reverse way, get a nano sim to cater phone that need nano sim, then use micro sim or normal sim adapter to insert into micro sim or normal sim phone.
The adapter package, cheapest I can get is RM2, for all 3 adapter (nano to micro, nano to normal, micro to normal)

So far work well for me.

umobile dealers do provide original Nano size =.= but the adapter is ok too

What I means is if we have various phone that work with different size of sim card, then the problem can be solve by using a nano sim.

To use the nano sim on phone with micro sim, just put the nano sim into the micro sim adapter, then can work perfectly. brows.gif brows.gif
