Just bought Umobile Power Prepaid today, top up RM10 and got free 1GB. I don't really understand how this work though.
1) I will get 1GB every month and can use it even when my credit expired?
2) After I top up RM10 means I have RM15 balance now, can I use the RM15 to purchase data or is it only for calls?(cuz I can't find the purchase data menu in *118#)
3) What's the speed after finish using the 1GB?
4) How do I change from the current Power Prepaid to U28 or other prepaid plans?
Hope someone can help me out here, first time using Umobile and also prepaid. Was on Maxis postpaid previously. Thanks smile.gif

1. Yes, you will get 1GB every month based on the cycle from which you first reloaded the RM10. BUT, you have to have an active account to use it. (If expired, cant use at all)

2. The remianing credit balance of RM15 you can use it for anything, including calls and also buying data packages, as long as account is active. To subscribe, dial *118*3*1#

3. The speed accoding to UMobile is capped at 64kb/s IIRC, but from experience it's about normal 3G speed (H, not H+)

4. Not really sure. Personally think that the Power Prepaid plan is the best from UMobile atm.

-Also, you get 15 min of free calls daily to UMobile numbers for each day your prepaid is active.

Hope this helps.

1) What is 'expired' actually?
2) I just bought UMI25, the signal in Malacca is really good I get around 7++Mbps on H+.
3) That sounds great! Much better than Maxis capped speed.
Btw, for UMI25, the free 1GB data is only for this December or for every month for a lifetime?

Thanks for clearing everything up! smile.gif

Could anyone explain how Power Prepaid works? If i were to use Power Prepaid, does that mean I have to topup RM30/month? I'm currently on UMI20 where i will be barred from making calls/sms after 20 days but still able to use data.

I'm looking for a cheapest plan that doesn't bar me to make calls/sms for 30 days with some data (I never finished my 500MB from my UMI20 and now they gave me 1GB extra sweat.gif )

Who said UMI20 will be barred after 20 days? What you want is 2x validity, not sure if you can go back to that old plan from power prepaid.

I am on the New Prepaid Plan (before Power Prepaid).

To change to Power Prepaid, I have to

1. Switch to Power Prepaid ( Cost : RM3 )

2. Reload RM10 at minimum to get the FREE 1 GB High-Speed Internet for life

3. Subscribe to UMI plan , say, UMI 30 to get 1.5 GB + FREE 1 GB from no. 2 . Total 2.5 GB High-Speed Internet

Did I get it right?

I'm thinking to switch to umobile but I'm having dilemma in choosing U28 postpaid or Power Prepaid + UMI.
This is a table I made to help people like me.
Attached Image
The quota for u28 is very generous but the payperuse rate sucks hard.

I think you'll find the pay per use rate is competitive, just not with UmI. And the fact that you get free SMS and free call time means you'll need to hit hundreds of SMS or hundreds of minutes before the higher pay per use rate actually results in higher spend as compared with Umi.

Thing is, I don't use sms that much, so free sms is completely irrelevant to me. For free calls, 50min free calls = RM5 in power prepaid. It's not really that much.
Besides, I'm a student so most of the time I will be in school (Which have slow Internet) and in hostel (unifi 30mb). Therefore, I don't need a lot of data.
The attractive point about power prepaid is, the flexibility, example: I can use the 1gb in power prepaid first before I subscribe for UMI. If at the end of the month I haven't finish the 1gb, I wouldn't need to subscribe to UMI.
So which should I go? Quota or flexibility?

Depends on usage. I think nowadays a lot will never even finish 50 mins call.

Power prepaid you MUST spend at least RM30 every 30 days, unless you are okay with some days not being able to call/sms. Compare with U28 spending RM28 every 30/31 days.

For me, if you want to save money you'll go either U28 or the old prepaid plan and UMI20 (I use the former, my wife uses the latter). The only exception would be crazy high amounts of calls/sms which can use up the RM30 credit that you have to put every 30 days to get Power Prepaid working.

Sorry, I think I've created a confusion. I'm not saying UMI20 barred after 20 days. UMI20 lasts for 30 days for the data, and 20 days (I think) for the free call, on my phone. Even when I have credit on my phone, I'm unable to make calls/sms after the free call expired.

Anyway, it is still possible to revert to the older 2x validity plan.

It's normal if you don't top up so frequently. Only problem is this bonus credit don't show up on the menu till now. So it's hard to keep track of it. You have to call Customer Service to check balance.

Using U28 here. How can you get that free 250MB data from auto debit? Can't find it anywhere on Umobile site, and not in my account page too.. Anyway, I was thinking of getting MB88 broadband plan, do anyone here using it? Will the speed be managed after finish quota or straight cannot use? Thanks in advance.

Just sign up for auto debit using a CC?

Although when U28 has 3GB (4GB currently), the additional 250MB feels like no point.... rather pay directly with discount.
