Mind to share any uv lens cover? N what is it for? Interested to know something new
*
In older camera, UV lens is used to filter UV light (pretty much self explanatory) yawn.gif
without it... the pix u shot will have a layer of "fog" effect, mild one
due to overexposer from the uv-light

newer sensor hv eliminated this problem

we use this nowadays is to protect the camera lens ... from smudge and dust brows.gif

no need silicon cover!!!~ so troublesome

this is so incorrect.

When using waterproof casing, video sound will impaired. Unless u dont want sound on ur video then that's fine. And most importantly, using waterproof case must use "dry pad" (i dont know what it call) to absorb the moist, or the casing will have fog. So using waterproof casing all the time is not a good idea.
*
fog oni happen when u cool the casing and camera (separately) in aircon room
wen u use it, the camera heated the moisture and fog the casing

the correct way is to
1) keep the camera in the casing (in room temp!!!) before u bring it into the aircon room
2) use silical gel to absorb the moisture
3) wrap the casing/camera in towel if u r going to use next morning, to prevent moisture entering the camera

oic, hmm yea, but i feel that the monopod is not stable enuf, will goyang accoding to waves. haha
yeap, u r right, but still depends on the weather condition, for example, if u r in a cold room, mayb after recoridng awhile it will fog up because of the heat produce by the cam itself.
so.. depends.
i got the red one. but yet to try it out . lol

Diver?

Red is the most useful thumbup.gif scuba and black & white photo

Other color like magenta or pink oni is good for snokler

Black for photography, to slow down shutter speed

Other color filter donno for wat, haha

Tested Video+Battery ~ setting
> Normal Quality
> 1080 24p
> Lens Rectification ON
> WiFi OFF
> LED OFF
> Buzzer OFF
> Loop ON
> Sleep OFF
> 16GB SDCard
> Aircon set to ~24°C
--> Tested until self shutdown

Result
> 5mins clips * 18 + 3mins ~ 1.5hours
> Single file size ~ 290MB ~ Total 5GB

I choose 1080 24p instead of 720 48p,
bcoz of it practical video size
and less writing to the card (write less, more power save)

anyone have better suggestion for filesize & battery setting?

U shouldnt mount the joint on the reversed mirror
Ur camera is heavy and
when u bump on the uneven road... the reversed mirror might not be able to support the weight

U should stick the mounting kits on the mirror
Something like removal/clipper sticky base will do

bro do u heard about sj5000wif?
im dilemma between sj5000wifi/rd990/yi
please help! icon_question.gif
*
here is few problem u need to know bout yi
1) NO LCD screen, u gonna curse every now and then

2) If u turn off the front LED, the other LED such as top bottom and back... is basically useless
coz the red led is very dim... u cant see it under bright daylight

3) xiaoyi hv many factory problem, such as lens focus, wifi noise, mic...
although it is user fixable, but some ppl found it ultra annoying

4) when yi is not recording, but still switch on with wifi...
it will heated up... HOT!!!!~
it gonna fog ur underwater casing

5) (other??) will add later

----
disclaimer:
i own yi, kingma stick + underwater casing + dual charger with 3*battery + most of the joint accessories

tip:
if u wanna use it for normal use, u better use ur handphone camera
coz this camera is intended to be ACTION CAMERA VIDEO CAMERA

and dont be mistaken, im a satisfied owner
coz i normally jus turn it on and let it record wholeday and do the post processing later
afterall i hv 3batterys + dual charger with powerbank... endless energy

tips: u wan super cheap discount? buy everything online... via taobao agent at LYN
and if lazada/11street got RM50 voucher + 10%creditcard... grab it there

taobao agent can order from mi.com oso, confirmed u will get ORIGINAL
unless taobao shop have very good rating tmall is more reliable than taobao...

Hey, care to share how do you mount your xiao yi while diving?

You used a handgrip pole or something?

If so, would it be too buoyant that it keeps floating up while u are trying to descent?
Thanks!
*
i havent dive with xiaoyi yet
but i bought wrist mount... and planned to use the pole too

from my other camera experience, the camera buoyant is very very mild...
didnt feel it at all

and all the diver know how to control their breathing
hehe expert lvl here

TQ. looks like have to put all the yi's accessories (waterproof casing, selfie stick, battery charger & 2 extra batteries, powerbanks) into the hand luggage and carry the cam & 2 extra sd cards in my coat pocket...
*
coz new airline policy required all li ion battery to be hand-carry, cannot checkin

---

ohh 3batterys for yi... use in 1day is barely enuf
most of the time i took time lapse video (1battery last 1.5hrs)

my normally usage method
> 1 battery using in yi camera
> 1 battery charge on the move with powerbank
> 1 battery spare, coz the charging time is long

i recommended dont charge 2 battery at the same time with powerbank,
better concentrate/focus charging on one at a time
faster like this
